After a week-long break, How I Met Your Mother came back with a hilarious bang! This episode was full of group photos, birthdays, and flashbacks to Ted’s old skanks.
First off, let me start by saying that this episode came at the perfect time. Lily is turning 32, and she is so excited for her birthday. This Sunday happens to be my 23rd birthday, and I’m so excited for that! Like Lily, my birthday is the most important day of the year, and it’s exciting from start to finish. Her birthday is full of tiaras and love from her friends and Marshall.
Marshall has planned this extravagant party for Lily in their apartment filled with Lily games and songs, and invited Robin, Ted, and Barney; but at the last minute, Ted shows up with a girl, Amanda. Lily, in her attempt to take the perfect group photo, tries very hard to keep Amanda out of it, which starts the whole flashback sequence of all of Ted’s skanks that he’s brought into their lives on different special occasions.
A few of the photos were from birthdays or other parties when Ted’s skank is in the picture. Funny enough, Ted doesn’t remember any of their names (Strawberry being one of them); even though they may have been the one. We even got a much-needed Karen flashback when they went to Paris to see Lily since she had been studying abroad there. Marshall complained about not having sex, and exclaims that his balls were bleu, bleu!
We also learn that Marshall was the one that these girls would turn to for comfort after Ted dumps them, and over the years, he’s gotten sick of picking up the leftovers.
It wasn’t until the group realized that Robin had previously been one of those skanks that they decided to allow Amanda to stay at the party despite her lack of knowledge about Lily, and the fact that she wished Lori a happy 42nd birthday. That was great, by the way.
On a completely different side note, Barney cannot take a bad picture (and let me tell you, these pictures are HOT), while Marshall is incapable of taking good picture (and let me tell you, these pictures are BAD). That added some comedy to an already funny episode.
It turns out that Amanda isn’t the mother, but a look back at Ted’s girls, including a few that we already knew was great. What did you all think of the episode? Leave your TwoCents in the comments, and I’ll see you all next week (when I’m 23…I’ll be a whole new person)!

I can totally relate. I was maid of honor in a wedding and brought a date. He’s in the background of half the photos (wearing a tan leather jacket, ugh!) and I haven’t spoken to him in years. Still apologizing, lol!
BTW, wasn’t it more Marshall’s realization that Ted let Lily be in their college photo (in case she was the one) that really sent him after Amanda?
OMG, you’re right. I completely forgot about that picture! It was so quick, and they focused more on Robin than they did Lily in that situation!
We must also mention that one of these pictures is a celebration of Robin becoming a US citizen, which we never saw actually happen. I think we need to see that episode! We saw the super uber Robin Canadian episode (that’s what I call it) and she says she decides to be a dual citizen but we never see her go through with it.
I loved all the flashbacks…the Paris pictures were HILARIOUS.
SUPER UBER ROBIN EPISODE WOULD BE WONDERFUL.
