Legendary and multiple Emmy Award winner Betty White will take her long-anticipated turn at hosting NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on May 8. White will make her first appearance in Studio 8H.

The six-time Emmy winner and cultural icon will host “SNL” for the first time in her illustrious seven-decade-long career. White is best known for her performance as Rose Nylund on NBC’s “The Golden Girls,” the beloved comedy series that aired from 1985 to 1992. Previously, she co-starred as Sue Ann Nivens in the classic comedy series “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

In January, White was the proud recipient of the 2010 SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. White appeared in the 2009 romantic-comedy feature film “The Proposal,” alongside Ryan Reynolds and Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, and can be seen again this fall in the film “You Again,” starring Kristin Bell.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend Mother’s Day weekend than with Betty White ” said Lorne Michaels, Creator and Executive Producer of SNL.

While I’m SO excited about Betty White hosting SNL, I’m also excited about all of the other women coming to join her for her special episode, which coincides with Mother’s Day. I won’t spoil it for those who don’t want to know, but let’s just say .. if you’re a true SNL fan, you will LOVE it.

This is going to be an epic episode of SNL. It can’t go wrong and if it does, I will blame the SNL writers. NOT Betty White.

  3. Farrah says:

I agree Brittany. I’m pretty sure they’re bringing in the heavy hitting writers for this one. I know Fey is returning and I wouldn’t be surprised if she is writing a few sketches to make it epic.

  4. KP says:

OK, don’t get ahead of yourself my friends. No way does SNL pay Tina to write anything and SNL doesn’t have any heavy hitters left. Thus the show’s “Eh” humor lately. 🙂

    • Farrah says:

If Fey is gonna return with such huge hitters, I doubt she’ll come back to suckage. She helped write the Palin sketches I believe? I doubt Lorne would let Betty White come in to a sucky anything and I’m sure there was some kind of agreement.

OMG, I can’t even imagine what that Digital Short is gonna be like!!
