One thing shows have not been lacking on lately is guest stars, and this week’s episode of Community is no exception. Joining the cast tonight is American Idol alum Katherine McPhee as a relative of one of our study group members. But which one?

It’s family day in Spanish class but the first announcement of the show is that Jeff has broken up with hot Professor. Shirley suggests being the shoulder to cry on while Abed and Troy put a dead bird in her glove compartment. Jeff however says he’s fine with the break up since he didn’t have to break up with her. Later he cries to Pierce that her picked what they watched on T.V. which amassed to a lot of Glee, which is a show he hates.

Amber comes on the scene and Pierce announces she’s his ex-step daughter. Pierce actually has 32 ex-step children from 7 failed marriages, and Amber is his favorite. She thought this was going to be a family reunion. Pierce asks Jeff to wingman him to his step daughter so that she’ll think Pierce is amazing. Jeff says he has a thing, but Annie asks Jeff to do it for her. Since he brought no one to the reunion, he accepts, and things go well until Pierce asks him to leave. Jeff makes up an excuse that leads to him and Amber making out in the library.

They find a room to get busy in and a $25,000 check falls out of her pocket. Pierce is so desperate to have a daughter or some kind of family at all that he writes her large checks all of the time. She tells him it’s for school, but she’ll probably end up buying a new car. Jeff walks away (after sexin’ her up) and tells Annie about it who is grossed out. And she also thinks that he should tell Pierce. Jeff tries to get Amber to rip the check up and go dance with Pierce at that evening’s family dance, but she’s a total bitch and walks out with the money. Jeff simply tells Pierce that she’s not coming; though he already figured out she bailed with the cash. He advises Jeff to go out and have a family while he can, and Jeff shoots back that he has friends, and that’s family.

Shirley’s kids point toy guns at Abed’s dad. “FREEZE, HOMELAND SECURITY.” At the picnic, they ask Abed’s cousin if she’s a ninja because she’s wearing a burka, then spill a drink on Mr. Abed. He then accuses Shirley of being a terrible mother. When he leaves to get a new shirt, Shirley’s kids switch places with Abed’s cousin so that she can go jump in the bouncy house and actually have fun without restriction. Later, Abed tells Shirley that it was her kid’s idea, and that she’s actually a great mom. Even after one of her kids gets locked inside a vending machine.

Troy brings his grandmother who is cranky and this is why he was originally going to hide from her. Britta immediately offends Nana who demands she get a switch to be whooped with. Britta doesn’t believe that Nana will actually go through with it as she finds an awesome switch. After presenting the switch, Nana demands that Britta bend over, and Troy tries to tell her that all she has to do is walk away…but she drops her drawers and gets the whoopin’ of her life. At the dance, Britta tells Troy that he was right about Nana being a monster, which Nana over hears. “Troy, get me a switch…”

Senor Chang brings his father, and apparently…they are a Jewish family. They stumble upon Pierce, Jeff, Amber, and Starburns playing Pictionary, and Pierce has ‘windmill’. He draws a swastika, then circles it over and over again so as to emphasize the wind. He gets the whoopin’ of his life too from both Senor Chang and Rabbi Chang. Prior to Pierce, Amber was trying to draw ‘happy as a clam’ and Pierce got in the guesses ‘smiling sideways vagina’ and ‘happy sideways vagina’.

At the very end of the episode, Troy and Abed are locked in a vending machine together. Excellent episode, group! I loved it, and it was so fast paced that I’m afraid I might have missed something. So let me know what your favorite moments were by leaving your Two Cents in the comments!

NEEDS MOAR SWITCH! Seriously though, I love that almost the first words out of Nana’s mouth were “GET ME A SWITCH.” ~shaking & crying~ ah… childhood memories/terrors.

Anyone know who played Abed’s cousin in tonight’s episode?? I looked on IMDB and there is nothing listed for guest stars.
