How I Met Your Mother is bringing out the guest stars! Last week it was Carrie Underwood, and this week; Jennifer Lopez. I miss the subtle glimpses into who the mother is, but I’m for sure am enjoying the humor.
The episode starts with the police questioning Barney as to why they had to pull him out of the Hudson River. He gets into his story; and believe me, it was great!
Jennifer Lopez plays Anita, a girl who Barney decides to hit on at the bar. After he gets her home, she walks out before sleeping with him. When he tells his friends this story, Ted tells him that it reminds him of a book that he’s read called “No Wonder You’re Single; Look in the Mirror You Dumb Slut!” This book teaches women the value of saying “no” to men. As Barney goes over the details of his date, it becomes more clear that Anita knows this book. Barney takes the book from Ted to try and find a loophole; but instead, realizes that it’s written by Anita.
This is when we find out that Robin set the whole thing up. Anita was on her show (and was interviewed with a “but, um”) when Robin decided to tell her about her heartbreak. Anita said that she would help break down Barney of his bad habits. She gets to work, while Robin is beginning to date Don.
Robin ends up cancelling her date with Don after she finds out about a Super Date that Barney is taking Anita on. I’ll get back to THAT in a second…however, we also find out from Lily that Robin has been taking the breakup with Barney real badly. Marshall, Ted, and obviously Barney, aren’t making the mourning period any easier for her. Speaking of, if you have a chance to see it-go check out Marshall’s “Bang, Bang” song. Anyways, Barney goes to apologize to Robin for the way he treated her, and gives her and Don the Super Date that he had planned for Anita.
Meanwhile, Barney is back at the bar when Anita shows up explaining how she’s never been stood up before, and tries to get Barney into bed, but instead, in respect for Robin, he leaves and jumps in the Hudson; which brings us back to the beginning of the show.
Let’s take a moment to talk about How I Met Your Mother: The Musical. This time, Ted sings a song to Barney about a date he should take Anita on. I could never do it justice, so please take a look:
I happened to enjoy this episode. What did you all think? Please leave your TwoCents in the comments! See you all next week.

I wasn’t sure. It seemed a little bit like the show was going back to fix something they realized they did wrong or something.
But, the cast really executed it well.
Absolutely loved this episode (although I don’t think they necessarily needed JLo to play Anita..it could’ve been anyone..). For some reason, I thought Barney and Robin would get back together (I can hope, can’t I?) because I just don’t see Robin and Don together. But I was still glad to see Barney show actual emotion and remorse for once.
And I said a bang, bang bangity bangity bang bang bang…. 🙂
