Farewell Andrew Koenig

After missing for days, and friends on Twitter and on the news pleading for his return, actor Andrew Koenig has been found dead in a park in Vancouver.

The man best known for playing Richard “Boner” Stabone on Growing Pains was the son of Star Trek actor Walter Koenig.

EW had Walter’s statement: “My son took his own life,” the elder Koenig said Thursday at the emotional press conference. “He was obviously in a lot of pain.” A police spokeswoman said that the department’s investigation will continue and that a cause of death will not be released at the moment. No foul play is suspected.”

I always remember the episode when he played Editor Webb in Our Town on Growing Pains. He had his lines on a tape recorder in his suit jacket. I played the role in high school and always wanted to try it.

Thanks for posting this KP. I’m an avid fan of a comedy podcast called Never Not Funny with Jimmy Pardo. Andrew did the video for the show, so he got to jump in once in awhile. After listening for years, I feel like I knew him in a way…like he was a friend that I got to listen to every week. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
