The Top 10 Things I Learned from The Amazing Race 16
10. Jody and Shannon (grandmother/granddaughter): I forgot they were even in the race. They didn’t get much screen time although we do learn that Shannon knows how to drive stick. Finally, a smart team. They are at the farm challenge at the same time as the ‘Stache brothers and Jody is sweet-talking the cow to milk it when she gets kicked by the cow – in the head. In the “sprint to the end,” they come up short and are eliminated.
9. Louie and Michael (friends/undercover cops): They used stick to wrangle the llamas … or maybe it was the ‘stache, I’m still not sure. Michael slipped in the farm at the beginning and had trouble finding the pantry. After the dramatic ending with Jody and Shannon, they are ninth.
8. Dan and Jordan (brothers): The first team to forget the pre-race rule of practicing how to drive stick-shift. Only one of them knows how to drive stick, which isn’t a good idea if that is the same person who knows how to read the map! They obviously can’t read a map or drive because while the other teams are doing the detour, they’re lost somewhere. Despite getting lost and pushing their car in reverse, they are eighth.
7. Steve and Allie (father/daughter): We didn’t even see them until the farm! They stay under the radar and come in seventh.
6. Jordan and Jeff (Team Big Brother/dating): Apparently J&J think when you can’t speak the native language, speaking with your hands is the way to go. They run into the ‘Stache brothers and help them out, although they are lost themselves. Jordan is still as dumb as rocks but they still have that strength and come in sixth.
5. Monique and Shawne (Friends): Another team we didn’t see until the farm when they realized how dangerous cows could be. They stay in the middle of the pack finishing fifth.
4. Caite and Brent (dating/Team Miss Teen SC): All I have to say is, watching Caite dressed as a chicken flying through the air. YOU TUBE IT. NOW. She just wants everyone to see that she’s an intelligent person and for people to stop making fun of her. If she stops talking about proving she’s not stupid, she should be fine (or else I might jump through my TV and throw my shoe at her). After dressing like a chicken, these two finished fourth.
3. Carol and Brandy (dating lesbians): Early on in the leg, they decide to get into an alliance with Heidi and Joe. Because of alliance, Joe and Heidi “hold their spots” at the bus station. This infuriates the other teams. And who knew they spoke Spanish? They also got the last two seats on the first bus. Still whining about the lack of fancy things, they finished third.
2. Joe and Heidi (married parents): Aligning with Carol and Brandy seemed okay until it made everyone else mad at them. I can picture them getting the first “Yield” when it gets to that point. Joe and Heidi struggle at the challenge (Joe got kicked by the llama right in the knee cap). Forming the alliance was a good idea, as the brains behind it finished second.
1. Jet and Cord (brothers/cowboys): The cowboys take a risk by doing a connecting bus situation and other teams follow their lead – the only problem is, the other teams have a bus leaving out of a different terminal and they miss their bus, turning the cowboys into geniuses! They arrive to the destination first while everyone else is still on their buses coming in and begin the detour, which had to do with wrangling llamas (“the llama whisperer…”). So, cowboys on a farm. That’s a hard one. Seriously, these cowboys got lucky. The road block is on a farm, too! Milking cows, getting eggs from the coop … it’s like Texas was brought to them. With tasks like these, did you expect anything less than first?
Next week, Jet/Cord are questioned about their level of success and Carol/Brandy get on each other’s nerves. Should be interesting to watch.
Did you enjoy this week? Why do you think we didn’t see most of the racers? Were you surprised the cowboys out-smarted everyone else and won the leg? Leave your two cents below.

I was disappoint but not surprised by the elimination of grandma/granddaughter. Grandma didn’t seem to have much hustle in her, even on the first leg. She’s definitely tough though.
All of the Jordans needs to be eliminated quickly. Yikes.
HAHA. I agree….the Jordans need to go. They both bug me! 🙂
I’m really liking the cowboys. I loved the whole secret bus transfer segment. That and the fact they have cowboy hat covers. 🙂
I know! People underestimate them because they think they’re just dumb cowboys. But I have a feeling they are gonna go FAR. They seem prepared and seem to have watched the show (rule #1! LOL).
