DM is being purchased by an electronics company named Sabre (Michael pronounces it at Sah-bray). A box filled with new equipment office equipment comes in and Michael distributes it around the office. Unfortunately for the recipients, they were for someone named Gabe. They try to put it all back in the box to make it look like hadn’t been opened but after they get it all taped up, Michael’s cell phone rings from within the box.
The group offers up a round of applause as Gabe comes in. He’s the representative from Sabre and will be the one in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly through the merger. Dwight offers him a Scranton hot dog. Andy and Erin sing a song in which they rhyme the lyrics with Sah-bray. Oh, Gabe says he’s from Say-bur. Oops.
Sabre has an intro video with Christian Slater because it’s not like he has anything better to do. Also featured on the video is Jo Bennett(Kathy Bates) , the CEO of Sabre. After the video is over, Gabe asks if there are any questions and Meredith wants to know about vacation days. They look out the windows of the conference room and, uh, oh, there’s an IT guy installing Internet site blockers. Also, Gabe hands out Sabre aluminum water bottles so that there’ll be less waste. Michael doesn’t like that. He makes a lot of trips to the water cooler and uses about 30 Dixie cups a day.
Michael is not happy with the changes and lets Gabe know so Gabe gets on the webcam with Jo Bennett. Michael tells Jo he doesn’t like the changes and she puts the kibosh on that. She tells (read: threatens) him to take til the end of the day to see if he can’t get with the program. A firing is implied because Kathy Bates is awesome at implying things.
Michael goes to David Wallace’s house to ask him what to do about Sabre. David is doing a whole lot of nothing these days. He and Michael sit in the hot tub and drink beer and David has no idea how to help Michael but he does have an idea of some kind of vacuum to help kids pick up toys. It’s worse than anything Michael has ever come up with. It’s also called Suck-It, so yeah.
Michael comes back to the office brings in gallons of orange juice to propose a toast to Sabre. He thinks he can embrace the changes because, really, what other choice does he have?
Jim and Pam interview a daycare. Jim accidentally walks in on a guy in the childrens’ bathroom. It’s the guy they’re about to interview with, of course. Jim acts weird and Pam tells him to cool it. Jerry (the interviewer) is kind of being a jerk during the interview and Pam flat out asks if it’s because Jim walked in on him. It’s all very uncomfortable. I don’t think the little Jam-let is going to be going to this daycare anytime soon.
I think this episode was pretty much all exposition. It was actually relatively boring, but there were a couple of good parts (David and his son jamming at the end was pretty funny). In a way, I’m kind of waiting for this show to end. I mean, how is this buyout going to play out? How long can this storyline go on before it’s just done? Is Kathy Bates going to be on it forever because I might just watch for that. Love her. Leave your thoughts in the comments!

I loved both of the songs tonight, especially “Suck It.” And I love Kathy Bates, although she scares me to no end. You’re right, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out and IF the show can get its mojo back.
Haha, I thought this episode was pretty hilarious!! Seeing how David Wallace is just chilling and loving live (for those who don’t know, when a company gets taken over, the C level execs get pretty sweet golden parachutes. David Wallace, CFO, probably got a few million dollars for being let go as a result of the buyout so he is sitting pretty).
I also thought it was great when the day care guy goes “maybe you two just aren’t as fun as you think you are” or something like that.
When did Jim get so panicky anytime things don’t go well (remember at the wedding announcement party where he spilled the beans on a preggo Pammy?)
LOL- seriously, loved this ep though! Poor Andy, what a tool, he needs to just ask Erin out.
Hey, Rachel! I’m surprised to hear you say that you are kid of waiting for this show to end. (A low mojo indicator if ever I saw one!)
I think last night’s episode rejuvenated things. It was almost as if a giant vacuum was sucking mojo off of the floor and into the show. (Hmm… what’s a good name for such a giant vacuum?)
I didn’t say I was waiting for the show to end! That was Shannon. Silly, silly Shannon. 😉
Sorry, Rachel. That was careless speed-reading on my part. I apologize for questioning your Office mojo. I SHOULD have been questioning Shannon’s low mojo.
Hey, it’s not like I’ve got a countdown going or anything, it’s just that this buyout and all it entails feels like the beginning of the end. I’m sure that’s what the writers want me to think as well so it’ll be a bigger surprise when they pull out the big guns.
