Last time we visited with our Oceanside Wellness gang, we found out little Maya was pregnant. Naomi was going to force her into having an abortion, but Maya refused. This made Naomi judge her own character, finding comfort in the arms of her enemy, Dr. Fife, surprising, well, everyone. Violet and Charlotte became roommates as Cooper became more of an immature little man. Addy was pretty much there to support Maya, but I’m sure it won’t be long until she begins supporting Sam as well, since they always “go there.” I’ll stop rambling now and see where this episode takes us.
Addison is at the hospital delivering a baby to parents who seem not to care about having their child. Mom doesn’t even want to see the child, just wants to know how the chord looks and to “do it.” Addison takes what I assume is blood from the chord and the parents say “we did it.” Back at the office, Dink is meeting with Sam, saying he has to stand up to him and wants to be a good father and after a bunch of rambling, he gets it out – he’s asking for Maya’s hand in marriage.
Downstairs, Pete is tired because Lucas didn’t sleep and he’s getting women but isn’t dating, Sheldon is dating (he’s over Violet I assume finally) and Naomi refuses to talk about Dink or anything related to the situation. Her phrase of the situation comes out: I CAN’T. I’m over Naomi. She needs to go away. Cooper strolls in with his man-swagger because of Monica, one of his newest conquests, just as Charlotte walks in. Coop is pissed off that Charlotte lives with Violet and says she did it on purpose but she says it’s not about him (most men think that way). He gets paged to the hospital to visit with the baby Addy delivered and his older sisters, who both have leukemia. Addy takes Coop aside and tells him there’s only enough chord blood to save one of the girls. It winds up the parents had the baby only to save the girls’ lives and now they have to choose between which child will live or die – or let them both die.
Sam talks to Maya, who brings religion into the conversation and says she made a mistake and wants to right her wrong. She wants her baby to have a mother and a father (so Sam agrees to not kill Dink so the baby can still have a father – and he said it with a straight face!). But Maya and Dink are MFEO (Made For Each Other) so she IS going to marry him. Like, OMG. LOL. Sam goes to Addy to vent since Naomi isn’t around. Addy assures him he will get through it. Sam’s idea is to do therapy with Violet and Sheldon to get Naomi talking, but everything she says is NO. No to everything. EVERY SINGLE THING Sam says she responds with NO. That is “the best she can do.” Even Sheldon and Violet agree with Sam. In the new Naomi fashion, she leaves. SERIOUSLY. Can we have a non-Naomi episode now please? Renee, the girls’ mom, is reading with her while the dad is talking with Coop. He says he can make the choice and that makes him feel horrible. When he tells his wife, she tells him he’s going to hell.
Dink’s mom comes to visit Sam to talk about the situation. She’s very articulate, an RN and knows Maya very well, which surprises Sam. She has an entire file with plans for their future. The kids can live in the guest house after they get married and everyone can split up the babysitting. Sam wants to make sure Maya gets her high school education and he’s afraid if they get married she won’t do that and Dink’s mom says if they don’t approve of the marriage and let them do it, something much worse could happen. At the hospital, one of the girls has an infection and Renee kicks her husband out because he had made the choice in his head and then the little girl got sick. So what to the men docs do? Go to the bar of course. Pete gets hit on at the bar but has to leave when he gets a page and Coop leaves Sam because he’s depressing company. At their house, Violet is in her snuggie ready to curl up with a book and Charlotte calls her boring so she offers to make martinis. Violet reassures Charlotte she is good to stay there, no matter what Coop says. A drunk Sam goes to Addy’s house (surprised? I’m not…). Did you know medically, alcohol brings clarity to things? Hehe. That made me laugh. Sam tells Addy a story about Maya when she was younger and how stubborn she is. So, of course they kiss – HOT I might add – and Addy says it’s a bad idea and then we go to commercial. SERIOUSLY? Ugh!!!
The next morning, Sam and Addy talk about their “situation.” Do they kiss when they need comfort? No, that’s not it. They agree their kiss was hot. Sam asks her if she wants to keep kissing and see where it goes. She replies with “do you?” So he shuts the blinds – just like Mark did, so she says no. Addy is thinking about Naomi and feels bad and then Sheldon interrupts them. Ok, thanks Sheldon? Naomi wants to talk about the Maya situation finally. Coop is visiting the family at the hospital and reassures the father he didn’t will anything to happen. Because one girl is now sicker than the other, she needs the blood. Since Renee won’t sign off on it, he goes to get a court order. Naomi finally opens up about Dink and Maya getting married, living in Sam’s house, having sex in his house and what is Dink’s name? Sam talks about growing up without a father and Sheldon and Naomi point out there are alternatives to the situation. Since Naomi isn’t opening her mind (or her mouth!) Sam says if she doesn’t step up soon, he will have to make choices on behalf of both of them.
Addy and Coop walk in on the parents fighting and Addy points out that Renee has chosen between her children by not even visiting her son. Del comes to get Sam to show him Maya’s ultrasound he is doing, which Dink is present for as well. I think it’s in that moment Sam realizes what is right. Addy, meanwhile, visits Naomi, who is struggling with not eating a box of chocolates. Naomi feels out of control – she can control the chocolate but she can’t control the Maya situation. Addy kind of brings up her and Sam, saying he and her have been talking about the Maya situation more than he has been with Naomi…like they’re the couple. This makes Naomi burst into laughter and say she would be the worst person ever if she went there. Well, that’s just not fun for me to watch. Coop tells the girls about the chord blood and how only one of them can have it as the parents listen on (they couldn’t bring themselves to tell them). Coop might not be great with adults, but he sure is good with kids.
Naomi decides to show up to the Dink/Maya/Sam/Dink’s mom meeting, although she’s a bit late. Dink looks a bit like Del, hmm. Dink is a very respectful young man, and when Naomi says he can walk away anytime, he reassures her, with the utmost respect, he won’t. Sam and Dink’s mom sign the papers for the kids to get maried. Maya asks for her support. OH! Dink has a name – it’s Philmore. Holy moly of names, that’s one for the books. Naomi, of course, leaves. Coop is at the hospital with the girls and Jerry (dad finally has a name – I hate when they do that!) sits with Nikki, the sicker of the two that isn’t getting the blood. Aw man, that storyline is just breaking my heart. Naomi goes back to Violet to talk but she goes in the wrong direction when she says she understands what Violet went through when she gave up Lucas. Violet was damaged and couldn’t be a mother – Naomi just didn’t get her way. In a scene that makes perfect sense, Addy is in the elevator with Sheldon and asks him for advice (as long as he keeps to the whole patient/confidentiality thing). Without using names, Sheldon figures out it’s about Sam and Naomi. He gives her some great advice: “Friendship is important…but if this is really it, the one…I don’t know that I could walk away.” Oh man Sheldon, BROWNIE POINTS!!! Coop goes to Violet’s and tells Charlotte he’s okay with Charlotte living there. She tells him she’s not home and slams the door in his face. HA. Sam comes to Addy and tells her he signed the papers for Maya to get married and that he wants to take her upstairs and stop talking and start doing. (It was more bold than that, but this is the G-rated version.) He says they can talk and talk or they can just see where it goes. Addy brings up Naomi and Sam is just OVER Naomi (as am I). She walked out on him, on Maya and doesn’t Addy remember once on her? Addy says she can’t do anything because it would be cheating on Naomi and she won’t do it because she doesn’t want to be a cheater anymore. They hug, and you can tell they want to be together SO bad, and he walks away. Oh man, Taye Diggs, you can walk over here! So sad!
Next week, Private Practice goes vampire and I’m not happy about that (it scares me) but there is some Sam/Addy romance stuff but a flash of Pete scares me that Addy sleeps with him instead.
So, a lot went on this week. Sam and Addy … will they get together? Are Coop and Charlotte making strides towards each other? Could you choose between your children? Will we get to see Maya’s wedding? And what’s up with the name Philmore? Leave your two cents below!

I have two daughters and just can’t imagine having to choose between them.
