HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER MADE A HUGE COMEBACK THIS WEEK! It was about time, since in my opinion; the show has been lacking some of its comedy that it used to have. This week, it all came back.
To start, I truly enjoyed the way the show was set up. It started with Barney in some sort of waiting room and it is revealed that he deals with stress by imagining that he is on a talk show with the famous sport’s caster, Jim Nantz. Here, he begins to tell the play-by-play of his “perfect week.”
I’m going to tell the Barney story before I get into the other people’s stories, so bare with me. We find out that Barney is attempting a “perfect week” which means that he’ll be sleeping with 7 girls in 7 nights, with no rejections. He’s come close a couple of times, but certain things keep holding him back, like his friends or other hot women. This time, he’s doing very well. His nights are going off without any issues, until the 7th night. But to understand his desire to make this work, you also must know that Barney is in jeopardy of losing his job for a merger gone bad. His friends want to be supportive, but he has chosen to not deal with it. Lily has officially confronted him on possibly losing his job, and has jinxed it in more than one way. The first, she actually said the words “perfect week” which is a HUGE no-no, and the other was saying “there’s no such thing as a jinx.” Both are very unlucky things to do when trying to achieve a perfect week. Because of this, New York Yankee Nick Swisher walks in. Now, it’s revealed that when a Yankee walks into a bar, nobody else even comes close to standing a chance. The girl Barney is hitting on begins to walk toward him, and his friends try desperately to stop her from making it to him. Through a series of FORTUNATE events, Barney lands the 7th girl and achieves the perfect week! Congrats, Barney! Not only did he score the perfect week, but he wasn’t fired and everything came full-circle for him.
Now, onto the other characters: Ted is teaching the first class of the new semester, and happens to believe that someone put a fake name on his class list; Cook Pu. Instead of realizing that she is in the class, he spends a very long time making fun of her name, causing Cook to leave the class and eventually drop out. The rest of the gang spends the remainder of the episode making “Pu dropped out” jokes. Ted feels horrible about this, and struggles with his emotions for the episode.
Robin was on a date with Dale, a guy who she had nothing in common with, and she desperately wants him to call so she can turn him down, however, we learn that she really does like him and later on, refers to him as her soul mate. This part of the episode was a bit slow, but still had its humorous parts.
Finally, the Lily and Marshall story was THE BEST. They have been looking for another couple to double date with since Barney and Robin broke up (and since there was no more Ted and Stella, Ted and Robin, or Ted and Victoria…geeze Ted…can’t you keep a girl)?! Their double date had gone very well with a couple they found, until it was exposed that they shared a toothbrush. I personally find this to be very weird, as does everyone else. Then, it gets better…when they were living with Ted, we discover that Lily and Marshall kept their toothbrush in the bathroom; unlike Ted had assumed. This means, for many years, they had been sharing a toothbrush, all 3 of them! To make things even better, when Robin would spend the night; she would use it too! I laughed so hard at this, and thought it was the best thing ever!
So, that’s about it. What did you all think of this episode? Please leave us your TwoCents in the comments.

My favorite line of the night goes to Robin: “Lily, if one of the Vancouver Canucks walked in here my panties would drop so hard there would be a hole in the floor halfway to China.”
And Lily “Canadian-ing it up” for Robin, eh?
Totally right though Faye….HIMYM went back to its roots…
And NICK SWISHER!!!! How lucky is the girl that dates him?? (Joanna Garcia, btw..) And loved how Robin is the one who distracted him so Barney could get his perfect week. Wrong yet maybe that will be something to come back in the future?
The toothbrush thing was funny but a bit too much and could’ve done without Cook Pu.
I hope that next week continues to go strong. I’m proud of the show this week.
The scene where Ted is trying to help Barney pick his “pitch” – they used the music from Major League. Awe…… Some.
Such a smart show!
“Never open an email from Phil Simms in front of your kids” funniest thing Jim Nance has said. Ever.
I wouldn’t even tell the story of Barney’s Perfect Week to my kids.
I loved the ending with Ted boasting about tell this story to his kids one day… “Am I bad dad?”
I don’t think Robin really had feelings for Dale. I think her need to have the upper hand warped her view of him.
Robin has a habbit of doing that. IE: The Naked Man
She just wants to PROVE something
