We’ve had a week off from our favorite wine-drinking family and we are waiting for a lot of questions to be answered. Is Sarah still dating her man and will Luc really ruin things? Is Kitty going to run for Robert’s senate seat? Will Holly give her shares to Dennis? Will Scotty and Kevin’s embryos take and they become daddys (giving us nine more months of Michelle…)? Let’s find out, shall we?
The usual conference calls are happening – Sarah with Kitty while Robert is getting Kitty campaign money, yet eavesdropping on Kitty’s conversation. And he’s shirtless and I’ll watch anything Rob Lowe does when he’s shirtless. Okay, back to the point. Because Robert is helping get money for Kitty, people are literally throwing money at her yet she didn’t tell her family she’s changed from Congress to Senate. Meanwhile, Scotty is bumming because he thinks his restaurant is going to close because it’s slow. Nora is holding an event at the restaurant that night with her and the mayor as guest chefs but the mayor may have to cancel. Scotty reminds Kevin his reunion is the next night but he refuses to go. Apparently he didn’t have a good time in high school. When Sarah gets home early from a date, the gang all says the relationship must not be going well because they’re not having sex. Sarah is being mature about it by taking it slow, but these are Walkers, so, they don’t buy it. When talk turns to Kevin’s reunion, Kitty talks about losing her bid for school president and how it still bugs her. This talk brings up the topic of her running for Senate and everyone is shocked. Justin suggests taking a family vote to see who is on board with it by an anonymous pen-and-paper vote. All yeses and one no. The assumption is Nora is the no.
Holly is on the phone with Dennis about selling the shares and he says it’s taking too long with her attorneys and she should meet him to do it on their own. David overhears and he’s had enough of all the Ojai/Walker drama. David makes the point that since they don’t have any money, why doesn’t she just sell the shares to Dennis, get money, and be done with the company. Oh and that this is all about holding on to William. That didn’t make her too happy. Kevin goes to visit Robert and Kitty but Kitty is upset about the Nora/no vote, although there’s a look in Kevin’s face that makes me think it’s him, even more so when Robert says Kitty wants him to be the campaign director. Robert doesn’t even ask him, just tells him if it’s good for Kitty, that’s what needs to be done. Robert heads to Nora’s to discuss the “no” vote and she swears it wasn’t her. She says she’s busy planning the dinner and he should find the actual person who said no. Meanwhile, Scotty calls to say the mayor called and can’t make it so Robert offers to be the fill-in. Senator trumps Mayor anyway, right? Nora is not happy. While Kitty is feeding Evan, Kevin asks her if the “no” vote will slow her down, noting Robert seems more excited than her. She said it does upset her, but also notes back to him that he shouldn’t be talking, considering he won’t even go to his reunion.
At the restaurant, both Robert and Nora are controlling over Scotty’s menu and fight over who should do what. Nora undermines Robert’s cooking ability, even telling him to boil the water – Scotty tells them to share duties. Nora is serious about this cooking thing … she even brought her own knives! At his reunion, Kevin brings Kitty as his date and at first, she outshines him for being famous and Kevin is mistaken for Tommy. He heads for the bar, assuming for wine since he’s a Walker! Rebecca drops by Holly’s to bring her some files to find David packing his bags. He says he’s going to Belize for a few months to shoot a film and Holly doesn’t even know. Rebecca tries to defend Holly but since she doesn’t know what’s really going on, it doesn’t make a difference. At the end of their date, Sarah and Roy discuss the “going slow” thing and they agree to go slow, then jump on each other like teenagers and decide to get a motel room – NOW. Back at the reunion, with cheesy music playing in the back, Kevin is drinking away his worries at the bar when the one person he was dreading to see walks up to him. This was THE guy in high school. Kevin did everything this guy told him to and apparently they did a lot bad stuff to Kitty – but never told her. Although Kevin felt like an outsider throughout high school, Brett (that’s the “popular” guy’s name) makes him feel better by telling him he was involved with everything fun in high school and when they chat about the present, makes him feel better about his present status. Hello lawyer, works for the senator, married and becoming (hopefully) a father. Not too shabby I’d say.
At the restaurant, the food Robert and Nora are making together isn’t turning out well because they keep fighting and Robert still thinks she is the “no” vote. Nora feels Robert is acting like William and that bothers her (pushing her to be something he thinks she should be). I’m not sure I agree but, whatever. Rebecca visits Holly at Ojai to tell her David is leaving – sidenote, when are we going to talk about Rebecca’s baby and non-marriage? Anyway, Rebecca tries to convince Holly to go after David and stop him but Holly says it won’t matter and he doesn’t understand and Rebecca doesn’t understand (does anyone understand Holly at this point?). At the reunion, Kevin gets a call from Scotty that the implantation didn’t take as another gay man in his class tells him about his successful implantation story. I just want to hug Kevin. Anyhoo, Robert and Nora are still fighting and Nora says while she wasn’t the “no” vote she doesn’t want Kitty to run (no reasons though because they were cut off by having to take their honorary chef bows). Mr. Popular Guy got drunk (although claiming he was sober for five years) and tells Kitty that he and Kevin rigged the election for school president which is why Kitty lost. Again writers, not happy you’re sharing lines with Desperate Housewives when Kitty says she’ll have Brett killed if he calls Kevin a certain name again, but, I guess that’s how things go nowadays.
Kevin and Kitty talk on the bleachers of the school and Kitty says she gets her strength from Nora and says the “no” vote was Nora being strong and with Kevin as her campaign manager they can take over the world! Kevin admits he was the “no” vote and she is shocked. He did it not because he didn’t support Kitty but because he was ready to be free and do his own thing. They decide to go to Nora’s to make ice cream sundaes like they did in high school. Aw. Robert tells Nora the “no” vote was Kevin and Nora tells Robert her internal “no” reasons … how they put Robert through the ringer and how she doesn’t want the same for Kitty, even though she knows Kitty is tough. Sarah and Roy are finished with their romp in the cheap motel room when she gets a text message – from Luc, saying he misses her (and an xoxo). Meanwhile, Holly visits Dennis in his hotel room and he says she’s stalling because she thinks he knows something about Ojai. Dennis offers her a deal, a partnership, and promises to make her a lot of money. But first he’s going to order some room service and martinis, and whatever William got, too (as he creepily runs his fingers through her hair and kisses her neck. PUKE). So, still, in season what, 4? Holly is still everyone’s slut? I don’t get it. I thought we were past this.
Kitty talks to Nora about the “no” vote and apologizes about the night as Sarah comes in, too. Sarah tells them her mission was accomplished and there was a weird moment with Nora talking about her generation of women and the g-spot. I was too busy laughing. Sarah wasn’t 100% thrilled with the evening (7.5/10) but decides she can’t go backwards. Holly gets home and is crying and – YAY – David is still there. Not only is he there, he PROPOSES! Wahooey! No more people thinking Holly is someone’s property but an actual person. She decides to sell her shares and get out of Ojai. Holly made me cry! At Nora’s with all the ice cream sundaes, Scotty and Kevin console each other and they “re-vote” on Kitty running for Senate. It’s unanimous with lots of clapping.
SO … a lot happened in this episode. I, for one, am SO glad David finally realized that Holly needs him. I sure hope she didn’t give in to Dennis (I don’t think she did personally although if she did sell her shares, I dunno…). I’m hoping Sarah sticks with Roy and doesn’t give in to Luc’s BS, although I think I remember him in the “coming this season” preview. No new episode next week thanks to the Super Bowl but then it’s February sweeps so who knows what will happen. What do you think? Leave your two cents below!

One thing annoyed me very much with this episode and that was the whole reunion thing. If Kevin had such a crappy time in high school, then why on Earth would everyone push him to go the reunion? I actually enjoyed my high school years, but still don’t want to go to the reunions.
The scene with Holly and Dennis also made me want to puke. I really hope she didn’t give in to him.
I can relate to Kevin. I had a horrible high school time and everyone around me wants me to go to my reunion to show them what I’ve become. The whole “look at me now” thing, as shallow as it sounds. But with him, he didn’t have enough confidence in himself as an adult to think he was successful, although we all know that’s different now after the reunion!
I can’t believe we have to wait to see what happened with Dennis and Holly. I’m actually caring about her now!
