Well folks, we made it! 100 amazing episodes of How I Met Your Mother, and the writers surely didn’t disappoint. From the start of the episode, until the end of the musical number, my friend and I continued to laugh! I hope you all loved it as much as I did…
Months and months of hype lead up to the Rachel Bilson guest starring role. Was she the mother? Was she the mother’s sister? Was she ROBIN’S sister? (I have heard variations of all of those questions). None of those were correct, but as we all found out in the first 6 minutes of the episode; she is the mother’s roommate!
By the way, doesn’t the mother have beautiful feet? Ted told his kids the story of his date with Cindy, and every time she mentioned her roommate, Ted admitted all those things were found out to be true, but true reasons why he loved her. I loved this storyline; and I hope that we don’t see more of the mother’s feet for a very long time, because once we meet the mother, what’s left?
I thought that Marshall, Lily, and Robin added to the comedy of the episode, but at the same time, I felt as if they were more of filler characters for the Ted and Barney storylines. I did however LOVE the part when Robin went to serve drinks behind the bar!
Now, for the most amazing part of the 100th episode: BARNEY GIVING UP SUITS. Barney tried to land the hot bartender, who happened to despise guys in suits. Barney then gives up his suits, but has a very difficult time doing so. He even hid a suit of his in the bathroom at McLarens, and when we went to take it off, it ripped. He ran to get it fixed, and his tailor was none other than TV’s Tim Gunn! Unfortunately, they couldn’t save the suit, but used its buttons for organ transplantation for another suit. His suit was cremated…yes, cremated. Then, as he was about to sleep with the new bartender, she sees that he still loves his suits; and forces him to choose between her or them. This led to the most awesome musical number I’ve ever seen!
Instead of recapping the sequence, I request that you all take a look for yourself:
In the end, Barney realizes that he’d rather wear suits, but in continuing his quest to sleep with the hot bartender; for one more moment, he says that suits mean nothing to him.
I personally loved this episode! I hope you did too! Another TwoCents writer, Farrah, who has taken over for me periodically when I didn’t have time for the review was invited to give her twocents on the episode as well:
“As a guest reviewer for a few episodes, Faye has allowed me to throw my two cents in on the amazingness that was the 100th episode of HIMYM. From the moment Rachel Bilson came on screen, I knew she was going to be funny. Too bad 6 minutes into the show we find out all the hype was for nothing-she’s not the mother! BOOOO. But it’s okay, I will forgive the powers that be because they have gotten us closer than ever to the mother and I have this feeling we will meet her, in some form (and more than just a foot) by the end of the season. In the Barney area, the “Suits” song was the highlight of my night, heck, my month. They really went all out for that number and I hope to see NPH singing some more. Even Jason Segel, with his quirky singing voice (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” anyone?) entertained me and could do it again anytime. I was bored with Lily’s “the bartender is hotter than me” shtick but they needed filler, so I’m okay with it. All in all, a great 100th episode and I can’t wait for the next 100! And thanks to Faye for letting me put my two cents in and for covering the show every week. :)”
See you all next week, when I review the episode that Neil Patrick Harris directs!

Oh Faye..my BFF from another motha..What a great review. 🙂 It’s like we were watching together! I can’t wait to see what NPH brings to the table as director but hope he still maintains his Barney-ness in the episode. I hope Rachel Bilson stays around for a bit … I can forsee Ted going to her for advice every now and then. Plus she had pretty good comedic timing! Thanks for letting me put my two cents in (does this make it four? LOL).
