It’s that time of year, and we get to enjoy our holiday episode. Oh goody! No big mistletoe kisses like I wished, but a good episode, anyways. Santa is robbing a bank and ends up blowing himself up and his remains are splattered all over the place, including Booth. Max wants to spend Christmas with Tempy (how did he get out of jail, again?) and some family, in which he finds her cousin Margaret (Zooey Deschanel). He tells her that nobody wants to spend Christmas alone, because it means nobody loves them.
So, as I said, Booth shows up at a bank robbery and tries to stop Santa, when he sees he is hooked up to a bomb. Suddenly, the bomb short circuits and blows up. When Bones shows up on the scene she is concerned that he is ok, but then notices that he has evidence on himself. Back at the Jeffersonian, B & B are in the office and Bone is slowly undressing Booth, and lets face it girls, he was loving it as much as I was. HOOO WAAA! The funny part is while she is taking off his pants, he is reciting the Saints…poor Boothy. While undressing him, she asks if he would like to come to dinner for Christmas. He isn’t too sure because he might go see Parker.
Then there was this whole Sweets/Daisy thing that happened, and I am still not sure whether I understood what the heck they were saying to each other. Anyone want to clarify to this old woman? It was funny, and I laughed, only because of Cam’s look on her face. I still don’t get why Daisy thinks Christmas should be in March. Is she thinking of Him being born again (as in Easter?)
Temp meets Margaret (Zooey) and is bit miffed at how she acts. (Just like our old Temp) And may I just say, Zooy sounds and looks just like Emily!
Cam’s daughter Michele wants to spend Christmas in Hawaii with a friend. Cam acts like it is OK, but she is bummed out.
Booth agrees to come to dinner, but Bones can’t stand Margaret and is rethinking the dinner. Booth talks her into spending time with family. Margaret is something like Bones: very straight faced, low sense of humor, but Margaret makes Bones seem…normal.
You know how I love the car ride conversation, well this one didn’t disappoint. Bones has a wonderful revelation. She is so heartbroken…yes, I said heartbroken of Santa dying and his mother having to go through the holidays without him. Booth is so surprised (so was I) and asks her if she wants to go to the funeral. She does.
She brings a wreath to put on the casket. The rest of the Squint Squad shows up to pay their respects.
Cam tells Michele that she wants her home for the holiday and she can’t go. Bit of an argument happens, but Michele hugs her and tells her she loves Cam and is happy to spend Christmas at home.
Everyone is at Temp’s house: Max, Margaret, Cam, Michele, Hodgins, Angela, Booth, Sweets & Daisy. Finally, Temp tells Margaret that she would rather hear what she has to say, not what Ben Franklin has to say. Margaret is touched by this. They all gather around the table and Bones makes a poor attempt to a toast, but Booth saves it. Then he wants to say a prayer before eating, but Temp won’t let a prayer be said, so he settles for a moment of silence. How sweet that Booth sneaks a peek look at Bones during this and she sneaks a peak back.
As for the case: The cab driver and woman that were the witnesses were the ones that strapped the bomb on our poor Santa and made him rob the bank. Santa was an exterminator and was picked randomly out of the phone book. The couple met at a debt counseling seminar.
The radio guy apologized for spreading rage and blamed himself for the killing of Santa. He states that Christ died to redeem us all! Peace on earth!
No mistletoe kiss this year…darn!
What did you think? Did you like the disrobing of Booth? Sweets and Daisy want to make you shake your head? What was your favorite part?
Bones will be back Feb. 14
Merry Christmas everyone!

It was a cute character episode, but I have high standards for their Christmas episodes, so not as good as some previous *Bones* Christmas episodes. Sweets and Daisy were my favorite part. They were actually SAYING emoticons. “Colon, big D” = 😀 (et cetera). It was absolutely the most ridiculous, disgusting thing ever, and I still found it incredibly adorable. Romance-wise, I kind of miss Angela and Hodgins. They don’t have as much interaction as they did in previous seasons, even when they weren’t together…a sweet exchange at the end, though. I like the comment that there are different kinds of family.
The case wasn’t that interesting, but let me tell you, in Bones-verse, Santas always die. 😦
oh…ok…guess I’m a bit slow on that emoticons-thing. How about the whole reciting the saints thing? hehe
I like Booth and Brennan, but as I mentioned I think they are written rather inconsistently recently. I guess reciting the saints was cute, though.
I LOVE that Zooey was on Bones. She is one of my favorite actresses and it was great to see sisters play onscreen.
Many astronomers believe that the actual day of Jesus’ birth was in the spring of 5 BC (I’ve seen March and April stated) by looking at data that would explain the star with a tail as big as a kite (proposedly Venus with the crescent moon aligned) and other information, such as shepherds tending the flocks by night, which would only happen in the warmer weather. Christians came to celebrate Christmas on December 25 as a Christian replacement of pagan holidays such as Saturnalia and solstice celebrations.
I thought that Daisy and Sweets were cute with their emoticon chat 😀 ❤ and so on. And the gratuitous stripdown was OK by me!
Thanks, Trish. I was meaning to explain that part and forgot when I attempted to explain the Sweets and Daisy geekiness.
By the way, i had to look up what Brennan complimented Booth on – his perfect acromion (she likes his shoulders).
shoulders…thanks, I was wondering.
And look at you, with all the info on the holiday: way to go!
OH MY OH MY! Resiting the Saints! – Ok, seriously, was that a body double or am I going to have to take another shower?
