Hey again fellow How I Met Your Mother friends! Faye will be off for a few weeks so you’re stuck with me again. And I feel so lucky to have Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap as my first hello again R&R!

Marshall and Lily are excited to host their first Thanksgiving but Marshall leaves his perfect turkey in a cab. No worries though, Robin and Ted go to the Port Authority lost and found and get it! To repay them, Marshall gives them the fourth slap. OH. MY. GOODNESS. It’s a flashback to the previous three slaps!! Two years ago was the original Slapsgiving which will make today Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap. Lily, Slapbet Commissioner, says the slap is transferable and Marshall sets the rules of the slap (including tying Barney to a chair while he gets slapped). All is well and preparations are being made for the slap until Lily’s dad shows up – she hasn’t seen him in three years. We learn about Lily’s childhood and her super weird dad who creates super creepy games like “Car Battery” and “There’s a Clown Demon Under the Bed.” Eventually he moves in with his parents (Lily’s grandparents) and forces them back into the workforce instead of retiring to Florida. Lily gives him the “you’re dead to me” look, which comes up every so often. Lily’s dad brings his newest game to dinner, called “Diseases.” Man, I’m a bit creeped out by the guy who ate shoes in There’s Something About Mary. Again.

Lily doesn’t want to see him but Marshall, being the nice guy he is, tries to smooth things over. He tells Mickey (he has a name…) to sit tight in the hall. While this is going on, Barney is freaking out over who is going to slap him – Ted or Robin. Marshall talks with Lily about her dad and we learn about all the people who “are dead” to Lily (like their neighbor, her bridesmaid and the coffee shop guy) and how her creepy orange eyes make people explode and that’s how they’re “dead” to her. Marshall tries to defend Mickey but Lily won’t hear any of it. Back in the living room, Ted and Robin discuss who will slap Barney. Love it when Robin says to Ted: “Your name should be Eric Slapton.” (There are more of these, but that’s the top one.) Eventually they begin to argue instead of discuss and Barney sits back and watches. Lily says Marshall doesn’t understand what she’s going through because he comes from a close family (including super weird family dinners he joins via webcam every Sunday). Ted and Robin are arguing over the slap and he says he deserves the slap because he’s still in love with her – GASP! WHAT? Robin pauses and then calls him out on wanting the slap so bad he would lie about his feelings. FHEW. I could not deal with more Ted/Robin drama. Actually, I could, but knowing they don’t end up together, I don’t want to. Anyway, back to Lily and Marshall, he admits to meeting with Mickey and inviting him to Thanksgiving because since they’re married, he’s his family, too. Lily leaves. Ouch!

Mickey, Ted, Robin and Marshall are playing “Diseases” while Barney lays on the couch as Ted and Robin argue over the slap. It’s decided Ted will slap Barney so he gets in the “Slap Throne.” Marshall keeps telling Mickey they should go look for Lily and he doesn’t care. His game ruins the turkey and it makes Marshall so angry he gives Mickey a “you’re dead to me” look. Marshall finds Lily in the coffee guy’s shop where she finds out he died which makes her think about making up with her father. Everyone is back at the apartment and the slap still needs to happen. Robin says it needs to be Ted because he had such a hard year. He tries to do it but can’t so Ted offers it back to Robin since Barney broke up with her. She goes to do it but she can’t go through with it either. Robin offers the slap to Mickey to welcome him into their “family.” He can’t go through with it either and gives the slap to Lily as a present for everything he’s missed over the years. She can’t do it either and Marshall says that was the purpose of the slap – to bring everyone together. As Barney stands up, Marshall slaps him square in the face and he falls to the floor. THAT’S FOUR!!

To end the episode, we get the fortune of seeing a fake commercial for the “Slap Bet” game. The slap happy game that’s a real hit! For kids of all ages. 🙂

That’s it for this week and there’s a break next week. Sorry for the delay in the recap, but life gets crazy around the holidays. Hope you all had a Happy Slapsgiving!
