For the first time in, I don’t know how long, I actually watched Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice back to back. Grey’s was super awesome this week and I have high hopes for PP, especially considering last week’s delicious ending with the Sam and Addison kiss. Not sure where they’re heading with it, but I sure hope they don’t forget to mention it!

So Charlotte, Addison and Coop are awkwardly silent in an elevator. Charlotte told Coop about her marriage and he is not happy. Addison gets off the elevator and runs into Reverend Camden, um, I mean her dad (a reference to 7th Heaven for those who don’t get it). She doesn’t seem excited to see him and asks him to leave. Pete is treating a man with cancer whose wife is pregnant being treated by Addison. Pete’s patient asks him to guarantee him to stay alive until the baby is born. The rest of the doctors assume the older man is Addison’s lover. OH! DELL IS BACK! Yay. But, what? He got married?! He married his ex, the druggie mother of his daughter. Okay, that is random for a come back story line. While we’re all still basking in the Dell-got-married-weirdness, some lady (Mrs. Jarvis) comes in and says Coop knows where her kidnapped son is (flashback to the insulin boy storyline last year. Really had to jog my memory on that one! Appears the boy lied, go figure…). Pete takes his cancer patient stats to the genetic doctor to see if he has any ideas on what to do to give him some more time. There are side effects but it can work. Coop is running out of the office like a man on the run when Charlotte tells him to be honest with her but he says he doesn’t know where he is and leaves. Liah liah! Dr. Genetic Genius (official name: Dr. Fife) tells Neil about the procedure with Pete and Naomi in the room and Naomi gives her honest opinion about her concerns while Pete is on board for Neil having more time. Coop visits with Evan (the “kidnapped” boy) and tells his dad they are being investigated by a PI but Coop is covering for them – for now. This isn’t going to be good. Violet calls the doctors in to have a “marriage intervention” for Dell because he has dependency issues and keeps going back to Heather when she’s clean. Just as they begin the intervention, the authorities come and arrest Coop. Charlotte goes into super-girlfriend mode and gets a lawyer and all that nice girlfriend stuff. Jeez, Coop, didn’t ya see that one coming? I sure did!

It appears that Evan called his mom asking her to stop looking for him so his dad and Coop won’t get in trouble. This is a serious charge and acts as an accessory to kidnapping that carries a heavy sentence. Coop won’t answer where they are. Sam admits to knowing that last year he knew Coop knew the boy was kidnapped but doesn’t know the current status. Dr. Fife and Pete are operating on Neil (Pete is operating? Holy moly!) and are talking about the Naomi vs. Dr. Fife debate and what side Pete is on. He says he’s on the patients’ side. Charlotte comes to visit Coop and he admits to Charlotte he knows where Evan is and that he’s sick but Charlotte refuses to help him. Coop plays the “you just told me you were married” card and Charlotte gives him that “urgh, guess I have to help you” face. The intervention for Dell winds up being Naomi and Violet and that’s it. Dell attacks the two of them for giving him relationship advice based on their track record. Addison is nervously waiting for her father and is on her umpteenth Martini and pre-ordered her father’s drink, which she apparently has been making since she was eight years old (another alcoholic daddy storyline? Come on Shonda Rhimes, come on…). They argue over his affairs (there have been A LOT) and he asks for a fresh start with her. Yah, not gonna happen – she walks off. And rightfully so! Although I’m sure in true GA/PP fashion he has some disease or something. We’ll see.

It’s Coop’s day in court and the whole staff is there to support him. He comes in all beat up in his orange jumpsuit. He will be given immunity if he tells them where Evan and his dad are. He says he can’t answer the questions and will be sent to jail until he agrees to talk – no bail is set. Charlotte is a hot mess (Charlotte crying – for real) and Addison is trying to comfort her and I just want to give Charlotte a hug. Charlotte tells Addison about Coop asking him to help Evan and Addison says no way. Neil has developed horrible blisters as a side effect from the treatments Dr. Fife is doing on him. Horrible painful blisters – and liver failure, too. Without emotion, Dr. Fife says meh, just take him off the protocol, it’s obviously not working. The research they get from Neil can help refine the research for future patients. Nice bedside manner, doc! Addison is looking through Charlotte’s files and computer to figure out where she went to help Evan. She goes to call the police and be the bad guy. Coop will be the hero, Charlotte will get caught in the middle and Addison will be the bad guy. She’s being influenced by her dad’s presence, whom she calls “the captain” (which is also a 7th Heaven reference. Hm, wonder if Shonda is/was a fan?). Pete gives Neil the news and he is okay with it but his wife is not happy at all. She wants them to be a family. What does Dr. Fife suggest now? Delivering her baby. Okay, so now he’s a gyno, too? This guy rubs me the wrong way. Violet visits Dell but gets Heather instead and tells her she’s clean and going to meetings and it’s the best thing for Betsie. She seems okay, nothing like the last time we saw her. Coop and Charlotte come back and go at Addison, saying she has to trust the court system. They both stand their ground.

Addison comes into her office to a bouquet of flowers and before she can react to them, Dr. Fife barges in demanding she deliver Margret’s baby. Addison is against it, being that Margret is 6 weeks from her due date. Pete is for it because it reminds him of when Violet was attacked and he didn’t know if he would ever meet Lucas. Sam is stitching up Coop when he gets a phone call from Evan and next we see Sam and Coop running into the hospital and Evan’s step-dad is swearing up and down he didn’t stab Evan. Charlotte is also working on the case and they see other scars on his arm. Dell yells at Violet for coming after Heather and makes it clear he wants to be left alone. Charlotte sits with Evan and asks him why he cut himself. Evan wants there to be proof that his step-dad hit him and Charlotte tells him to tell her what he did and she will find the proof. Evan admits it’s all been a lie. Como se HUH? Coop got beat up for a lying kid who wanted his parents to stay together? Gr.

Addison delivers Margret and Neil’s baby and she is healthy. Charlotte tells Coop the truth about Evan and he doesn’t believe her (and man, he is MEAN when he is telling her he doesn’t believe her). Charlotte opens up to him (for real, KaDee Strickland has been amazing these last few episodes) and he could give a care and walks out on her. In a conpletely different contrast. Neil, Margret and their baby are all happily spending time together as Dr. Fife passes by and Pete nods in his direction. He’s still no gyno and I still don’t like him, but okay then, for now he’s got a few brownie points. Addison and Coop talk about what happened – she’s not trusting and he is, which is why she didn’t believe him. She was wrong in his mind and that’s it, end of story. Dr. Fife tells Naomi about Neil meeting his baby and they argue about it. Naomi gives her normal argument and Dr. Fife gives his. Naomi thinks he doesn’t care but he showed some compassion for a minute and it made her stop and think. Violet apologizes to Dell and says she’s glad she talked to Heather and says she seems good and healthy. She says he deserves to be happy and he wishes her the same. Aw. Addison chucks it up and goes to visit her dad. He reminisces about old times with her and says he wants more good times with her. She knocks him down and says he’s not her family anymore. Oh dang, Addie! She doesn’t forgive him and bla bla bla but she’s still there. I don’t get it.

In 2 weeks, Pete is fighting for someone’s life, Violet sleeps with Addison’s father (WHAT?!?!?!), Pete finally leaves her (GOOD!) and Addison’s mother shows up. WOW! O.M.G.

This episode wasn’t as good as I thought it would be but it definitely set up a lot of good upcoming story lines. What will happen to Coop and Charlotte? Will Dell really stay with Heather? And really, Violet with Addison’s dad? Ew. What are your two cents? Leave them below.

  1. Kirsty says:

The only thing I enjoyed was the brief introduction to Addie’s father which was just a tease for the next episodes.

Cooper is an sanctimonious ass. Charlotte should chuck him asap.

Violet still meddles where she’s not wanted.

After last week’s awesome episode, this episode was a serious letdown.

I agree. I was let down after last week’s episode and after the great Grey’s episode. Hopefully the big 2 hour episode will be better.

But yuck, Violet and Addie’s dad. Ew!
