Two big things are supposed to happen this week: Lady Gaga performs and there is a huge fallout from the threesome between Dan, Olivia and Vanessa (doesn’t Dan know the third party should always be a stranger?!). Other than these two things, I predict boring all around.
The show opens up with Dan walking around town thinking he’s the man and flashing back to the night before. He’s spinning around and giving high fives to strangers. Subtle Dan, subtle. Serena keeps trying to call Blair who thinks Serena is having a fling with Trip. Blair doesn’t want to talk to her because she doesn’t believe her that nothing is going on. Chuck is supposed to escort a diplomat’s son around town. Nate informs Dan the threesome was stupid because the third party is always supposed to be a stranger and now he’ll probably lose both. Vanessa shows up right in the middle of their talk and Dan invites her to hang out and she agrees with a huge smile on her face and they awkwardly hug. Nate can foresee the future. Some elite group of students are trying to get Lady Gaga to perform at the school and none of them can get her to do it. They are also putting on a cabaret and won’t invite Blair in. Dan has decided to apply to the playwright program and Olivia is going to help him. She says she can start that night but he is going to the concert with Vanessa. Olivia says she is okay with it and then goes off alone, despite having plans with Dan. Oh, how poorly this is going. Jenny is needing to broaden her horizons in the elite world when Chuck comes in with the ambassador’s son so Lily offers Jenny to escort him around town. Blair approaches Olivia about the cabaret, which she has been invited to and she suggests going to Dan to write them a script, which would cause him to have to miss the concert with Vanessa. Serena is at Trip’s office when he comes in, which surprises her because she’s been trying to avoid him. He tells her they are moving to DC earlier than expected which is good because he’s distracted (by her – obviously). Trip’s wife asks Serena to help pack up their house because she trusts her. Oy, wonder what comes next?
Nate is on the phone with his mom talking about the Hudson River scandal when Serena comes in to talk to him about the Trip situation. Olivia comes to her dorm room to pick up some clean clothes and Vanessa confronts her about the “you know….” Vanessa is super excited about the concert and Olivia tells her Dan can’t make the concert because of the cabaret (although lies and says she signed them up a month ago). Serena opens up completely to Nate about how her heart beats when she’s around Trip and Nate is harsh at first but then says she can count on him. Jenny and the ambassador’s son are walking through Central Park when her followers see them. She suggests lunch and he has a plan to sail toy boats. Instead of the followers getting jealous, they laugh at her. Still have no idea what this guy’s name is, but he’s from Belgium. Dan has 8 hours to write the original script and finds out Blair came up with the idea and is none too thrilled. They have to choose a fairytale so they choose “Snow White” to the tunes of Lady Gaga. Ambassador Boy is boring Jenny and when he takes his boat out of the water, there is a wad of cash in it. The one he sent out had E in it. A drug dealing ambassador’s son. Sweet deal. Serena calls Trip while in front of Nate and cancels coming over to pack. He wants to meet for lunch and she agrees but Nate quickly makes her say no and she does. Nate says he’ll support her while Trip is still in town. Dan goes to Vanessa and tells her about the cabaret and lets it slip that they were just signed up in the morning. He also asks Vanessa to direct and she agrees.
Olivia says she should’ve thought of Vanessa earlier for the job. Vanessa and Olivia start bickering back and forth rather quickly. Jenny and Ambassador Boy are talking about why he is an international drug dealer and the thrill of it. Jenny said she enjoyed the thrill and will join him on another run later on. Nate and Serena are walking in the park reminiscing about old times and eating ice cream and being all cutesy wutesy when Trip calls. Nate takes her phone away and says he is going to take her to get drunk until Trip leaves. At cabaret rehearsal, Vanessa is directing so Olivia gets the shaft in the show and is not being showcased. They argue in front of everyone about boxing each other out – both today and “that night.” Olivia says Vanessa is in love with Dan – and everyone agrees. Blair figures out they had a threesome and reminds Dan the third person should always be a stranger. Olivia and Vanessa both quit the show.
Blair sits down with Olivia and tells her “do it for the fans” and then brings out the threesome card. She does the same thing with Vanessa. With each girl, she plays the card differently. With Olivia, the secret goes to places like TMZ and with Vanessa, her mom. Nate and Serena are at the bar drinking and remember the last time they were drunk together was the night of the Sheppard wedding (season 1 flashback anyone?). Nate suggests getting sober quickly so they don’t do something they regret. Trip calls Nate to let him know he found out Maureen was behind the setup, not their grandfather and he feels terrible Nate took the fall. Trip wants to leave Maureen and doesn’t want to see her again but Nate says that’s a bad idea so early in his term. Nate tells Serena it was Dan. They continue drinking. Jenny and Ambassador Boy go to a club for their drug exchange and they are going to do it right there at the table. Jenny is a bit apprehensive but goes along. Vanessa and Olivia both show up at the cabaret and Dan tries to convince Olivia there is nothing between him and Vanessa but Olivia sees it differently. Didn’t we already go down this road with Vanessa and Dan already? New material, please.
During the cabaret, Hilary Duff gets to sing. A very bad Lady Gaga impression. Ambassador Boy and his club friend both are handing Jenny drugs under the table and she is getting nervous. Chuck finds her and tells Ambassador Boy to get out of his hotel. Olivia leaves halfway through the show and Blair throws Vanessa into her part. This play is horrible – and this story is too. While drinking, Nate admits to Serena that at the masquerade ball (yay, another old story line reference) he told her he loved her, only it wound up being Jenny he told instead of her. As they go to kiss, Trip walks in. He is not happy! Back at the cabaret, at the ending of Snow White, Dan is supposed to kiss Vanessa (now playing Snow White) and he hesitates (like Zack and Jessie in Saved by the Bell) and he flashes back to kissing her during the threesome. He is caught up in the memory when Vanessa snaps him out of it by asking him what he is doing. The play goes continues.
I’m still waiting for Lady Gaga. Seriously.
The head of the group says Blair surprised them all and she says she has a surprise for them. They close the cafe where they are and Blair leads them off. Maybe, finally, Lady Gaga? Serena, Trip and Nate are talking about Maureen. Trip asks Serena to take a walk and she says yes. Nate tries to save her from going but she goes anyway. Poor Nate! Blair leads the group into a small theater for a private Lady Gaga performance. Did you know “Poker Face” was about Blair’s step-father? (That part was funny.) Dan confronts Olivia about her leaving the play and she says she left so he would be forced to kiss Vanessa. Olivia is taking a part in a movie and is leaving. Vanessa comes up to them while they are talking, apologizes to Olivia, tells them both she doesn’t like Dan and that some other guy likes her and she has a huge smile on her face. Dan doesn’t. Olivia leaves. Jenny admits to Chuck that she is lonely and bored more now than ever which is why she went with Ambassador Boy. Serena finally crosses the line with Trip. Jenny texts Ambassador Boy (his name is Damien, only took an hour to find that out!) that she wants to hang out again. Dan watches Vanessa flirt with the new boy and he’s not so happy.
Thanksgiving episode is coming up in a few weeks. Serena and Trip get caught doing the dirty in an elevator. Someone might be pregnant. And both Nate and Trip want Serena.
So, let’s talk about this for a minute. Nate and Serena like each other but just because Trip’s wife betrayed him Serena thinks it’s okay to be with him, despite him still being married? The way they get rid of Olivia is by the fallout of the threesome? Dan is lonely boy again and Jenny is diving into drug dealing because she’s bored? At least we didn’t have to deal with too much of Ed Westwick’s horrible accent and voice too much tonight. What’d you think? Leave your two cents below!

That cabaret was awful. The cringe nearly broke me.
