Kate Walsh was doing major press this week for the show. I’m not exactly why, but the clip she brought with her ended with her and Sam holding hands and every host asked about her and Sam. Oh, how I’m hoping these two get together. I’m not a fan of the car crash preview, but I’m definitely a fan of the hand-holding preview.

Addison and Sam are hiking and Addison is complaining about how people are supposed to “pair up” and they agree marriage is stupid. Since Addison has Milo, she is now the cat lady. It’s kind of funny. She tells Sam she needs sex, again. Didn’t they already have this conversation? Sam agrees he needs sex, too. Sam asks Addison what if she had said yes to him when he asked her out in med school? When she said no, he asked Naomi instead, Derrick asked out Addison, they got married, and both got divorced. Would it have worked out? While they are talking they hear a man calling for help and says he was in a car crash and his wife is still in the car. Sam stays with him while Addison goes to the car. She finds a pregnant woman, whose arm is pinned between the seat and the door. They’ve been stuck in the car over night and is freaking out because her husband never made it to get “actual” help. The woman is due TODAY. Back at Oceanside Wellness, Coop is shutting down the office when some drunk guys in tuxes come in. One of them just got married and took some “pills” so he didn’t disappoint his wife on their wedding night since it would be their first time and the pills won’t wear off. He came in because it’s the “sexology” place. I guess word is spreading about Charlotte. Sam decides to go for help and Addison will run between the husband and wife. Charlotte comes out to help the groom in a tiny tennis outfit (her and Coop were getting ready to go play) and the groom’s drunk friends are being jerks about the situation. Sam is fixing up Jake (the husband) when he can’t breathe so he has to stick a make-shift chest tube in so he can breathe.

Charlotte’s patient, Brendon, is too embarrassed to take his clothes off and Coop makes the point that the guy is embarrassed and he would come in as a chaperone of sorts and also suggests Charlotte changes. Sam brings Jake down towards Addison so she can be closer to both patients while he goes to find the road. As he starts to climb the hill, Addison gets in the car and it falls even further down the mountain. Coop convinces Brendon to take down his pants and runs into Violet. Brendon’s wife runs in and Violet tries to calm her down. Coop takes her to Brendon and his drunken friends yuk it up in the lobby. Addison and Cara, the pregnant woman in the car, are okay but stuck in the car after one side of the car is slammed into the side of the mountain and the other side of the car is squished down. It appears they’re going to have to stay in the car through the night. Pete is at a bar offering to buy an attractive woman a drink but she’s already been bought one – by Sheldon. OY, this isn’t gonna be pretty. Sheldon is gloating about Pete being dumped by Violet and Pete just wants to be single and drink. Charlotte is explaining the procedure to Brendon and his wife when she gets sick and runs to the bathroom to throw up. The contents of her purse empty on the floor – crackers and lipstick. SEE IT COMING?! Violet asks her how long she’s been pregnant. Long pause … stunned look … commercial!

Brendon’s wife is talking to Violet about when they made their “virginity pledge” and how everyone made fun of them. At her bachelorette party, everyone told her to do it and get it over with so when it got to her wedding night, it wouldn’t hurt or be awkward. So she did. And got pregnant – but it’s not Brendon’s baby (and he doesn’t know). Cara’s water breaks in the car but they are still stuck. Sheldon and Pete are playing darts and comparing war stories (Sheldon was in the National Guard while Pete did Doctor’s Without Borders) until Sheldon makes fun of Pete’s “alternative medicine” practices. Coop and Charlotte disagree about letting Brendon know about the baby and Charlotte tells Violet to back off. Finally, we learn the wife’s name is Melissa. Took long enough. Classic Charlotte line: “My patient, my penis!” I love whoever writes for Charlotte and KaDee Strickland’s delivery of the lines. Just wonderful. Cara’s baby is turned the wrong way and Addison is trying all she can do to fix it and her and Sam fear they will lose all three of them.

Sam sews in the makeshift chest tube so he can leave Jake and head for help. When Charlotte prepares to begin the procedure, Violet goes to leave and Melissa asks her to stay. Sheldon hits on a pretty woman in the bar and Pete butts in and they low-blow each other left and right until the girl leaves. Sheldon thinks Pete is still hung upon Violet and Pete thinks Sheldon is still as well. Sheldon changes his tune and says Pete loves her. Pete’s face … oh, I wanted to hug him. Brendon is apologizing for taking the pills and Melissa wants to come clean about the baby and doesn’t exactly have great timing (Charlotte is performing a sensitive procedure on Brendon at the time). He declares the marriage over and she leaves the room. Sam sews up Jake and tells Addison he is going to get help. Jake is tired but alive and Cara’s labor is progressing quickly so Addison tells him to be quick but safe.

The baby begins to come out but is not coming out the way it needs to so Addison needs to push the baby back in. While Cara freaks out, Jake talks her through it. Violet goes to talk to Charlotte about Melissa telling Brendon about the baby. Charlotte doesn’t believe in “meddling” in people’s business and Violet lets her know they use a team approach when taking care of their patients. Violet analyzes Charlotte and says she’s afraid of getting to know her patients. Violet tries and tries to get through to her but Charlotte makes it obvious she’s not a real part of the team and doesn’t believe in the philosophy. The girl Sheldon previously hit on goes up to Pete and wants to leave with him but Pete tells her maybe she should leave with Sheldon instead. Sheldon comes up to them and gloats that he “got the girl.” Charlotte gives Brendon the good news that he’s good to go and he’s all set to leave Melissa because of what she did. Charlotte is ready to walk out the door but stops and turns around and starts talking about not being warm and fuzzy but is going to tell him something because that’s what they do there. She tells Brendon about being married before and how it was amazing and she was in love but he did something unforgivable and she left him and she has this great life now but once in a while she thinks about the fairytale she had. She left the moment it got hard and that’s not right and Brendon owes it to Melissa to give her a second chance if he truly loves her. FHEW, that was a lot of information at once. Violet overhears the whole thing. Cara is in full delivery mode and Addison and Jake talk her through it. At first the baby isn’t breathing but Addison gives the baby CPR and the baby comes to and is perfectly healthy. They yell to Jake about the baby and he doesn’t respond.

Conveniently, right after the baby is born and Jake stops responding, Sam comes with the rescue team. Jake is alive but weak. The rescue team takes Jake and the baby first and the team goes to work on the car. Cara thanks Addison for helping them and says she is going to name the baby after her. As the rescue team opens up the door, the release of the pressure from the wound causes Cara to begin gushing blood and she falls into Addison’s arms. As Brendon, Melissa and the docs are set to leave the office, Brendon tells Melissa he doesn’t want to leave her after all. Violet tells Charlotte she did a good thing but says her story wasn’t true. Violet doesn’t believe her (and neither do I!) but Charlotte tells her to let it go. Addison is doing CPR on Cara but it’s too late. In another amazing Kate Walsh performance, Addison falls onto Cara’s body, cries and has a breakdown screaming to get her out of the car. PLEASE GIVE THIS WOMAN AN EMMY! SERIOUSLY!! Once at the hospital, Sam and Addison bring Jake his daughter and tell him about Cara. Lying in bed, Charlotte tells Coop she needs to tell him something (but we don’t get to see what it is … any guesses??). Pete is home alone with Lucas and Violet is alone in her office (when is this gonna end? Come on writers, come on!!). The next morning, Addison is reflecting on the events and Sam brings her a drink. Addison asks Sam “do you think we would’ve made it?” And they have this cute conversation about chemistry, being hot, being a geek and then YAY! THEY FINALLY KISS!! Sam says Addison is no Naomi and Addison says Sam is no Derrick. Then they laugh like high schoolers.

Next week’s previews seem intense. Coop gets arrested for helping a kidnapper? Addison’s father comes to town and a whole lot more of dramatic stuff I couldn’t keep up with. I just want more Sam and Addison.

So, this week there are just two questions: 1) Was Charlotte being honest with her story? (If so, is that what she tells Coop?) 2) Will Sam and Addison give it a go? Leave your TwoCents below!

Who is the actress who plays the bride??? She looks so familiar!!

  2. Farrah says:

She played Rachel Greene, daugther of Dr. Mark Greene, on “ER.”

Great review and this was the best episode of the season.

Addison how I love you. Kate Walsh knocked it out of the park. I second the GIVE THIS WOMAN AN EMMY demand.

Don’t think Sam and Addie will give it a go. Maybe it will simmer for a while (which is always the best part on these shows). But Kate Walsh + Taye Diggs = deliciousness.

Charlotte grows on me every episode. I think she was being honest and I hope she told Cooper the truth. He forgave her for sleeping with Archer. She should return the favor and be honest.

Deliciousness! That’s the perfect word. I loved them giggling after they kissed, especially after all they had gone through. Maybe they should all just shuffle around. Naomi with Pete, Addie and Sam. Coop and Violet already gave it a try and that failed (barely got off the ground..) and Violet isn’t coming to Pete anytime soon. Naomi and Dell, that was funny. Poor Sheldon…

I can’t take credit for it. Shonda Rhimes herself said on Twitter – “Some amazing Addison episodes coming up on PP. Plus there’s a moment at the end of tonight’s episode that’s delicious…”
