It’s Merge time… you would think that it’s gonna be easy for the former Galu members to pick off the remaining four Foa Foa’s, right? Not so fast…

The Top 12 Things I Learned from Survivor 19

12. Brett: With the merge comes the task of creating a new name and flag… and Brett, being a T-Shirt designer and all, painted a pretty little flag with the new name of the tribe: Aiga (which is Samoan for “extended family”).

11. Dave: The Individual Immunity Challenge was a game of T-ball with a little skeet ball thrown in. With one shot, castaways had to hit a ball off a T into numbered areas. Whoever had the highest number would win. And in one of the funniest moments of the night, Jeff asked Dave if baseball was his sport. His reply was “Making love is my sport!” It was great!

10. Jaison: The plan for the former Foa Foa members was to get to the merge and then divide and conquer. Jaison is sure there are cracks in that solid block of Galu’s… and his teammates find ‘em. At Tribal Council when Erik questions Jaison’s worth, all he can do is smile knowing that they were about to break those cracks wide open.

9. John: One of several people that Russell showed his Hidden Immunity Idol to, John decides to take the game into his own hands. He’s all for voting out some of his old tribe (they’ll still have the numbers), and he knows that either Laura or Monica need to go home. According to him, everyone else is playing JV Survivor… the game has changed and he thinks (rightly so) that he and maybe Russell are the only ones on Varsity.

8. Kelly: Still flying under the radar (although I don’t know how she does it with that crazy hair), Kelly is just doing what she is told… hoping no one notices her.

7. Mick: Back to the whole divide and conquer thing, Mick spent most of his time getting to know the new members of Aiga, gleaning useful information.

6. Monica: Russell showed the HII to Monica, too, promising to take her to the Final 2. She might take the bait, but it doesn’t really matter: Russell promised the same to a handful of people and will just use Monica if he needs to. In fact, if he can’t vote Laura out (she’s on to him so she’s a threat), he’ll get rid of Monica.

5. Natalie: When the tribes merged, the new Aiga went to the old Galu camp. Natalie said she felt like she was “at the Hilton.” But she got right to business, too, finding cracks in the old Galu tribe.

4. Shambo: Sick of the way the Galu girls treat her, Shambo is more than willing to align with the old Foa Foa to target Laura. But when Laura won Individual Immunity, the whole plan was shot… or was it? The scramble was then to vote for Monica… then Russell… then Jaison… then Erik (to which she said “Who is Erik? OUR Erik?!?). Sure that the whole Erik thing was a fluke, she went with the last name she believed valid and voted for Jaison.

3. Russell H: Who DIDN’T this guy show his HII to? He is on dangerous ground, because if one person tattles on him, they’ll all figure out just what a conniving guy he is. And guess what? It happened. So Galu started floating around the idea of voting for Russell just to flush the HII out. It totally worked. He played it at Tribal Council but didn’t receive one vote. It looks like, from the previews of next week, that he should have held on to it cause he’s gonna be on the chopping block.

2. Laura: She does not realize how close she came to getting voted out. Luckily for her, two things happened: First, she won Individual Immunity. Second, Erik got too darn cocky. Had she not won Immunity, she may have been able to deflect wrath onto Erik, especially after some of the things he said at Tribal. Needless to say, she better keep on the lookout.

1. Erik:Talk about a blindside. He had a HII, so he thought he was safe. Galu wanted to vote party lines all the way, so he thought he was safe. He got a feeling that things we’re “too easy” with the plan to flush out Russell’s HII, but (still!) he thought he was safe. Then at Tribal, he talked about how the members of old Foa Foa had nothing to offer, thinking he was safe. I was sure all of Foa Foa would vote for him. And they did… along with 6 members of Galu. What? Only he and Shambo voted for Jaison. Ten votes… that should tell you something. PS – He’s the first member of the Jury.
