Hey guys, I’m filling in for Theresa this week. She’ll be back with you guys next week! I’m excited to recap this show because I love it so! Maybe it appeals to my inner (oh, who am I kidding?) geek, or maybe it’s because it’s one of the most quotable shows on tv. Either way, this week does not disappoint.

In the opening, the boys are going out for kite fighting yelling “Kites, ho!” when they run into Penny who asks if they’re going out to discover electricity. Sheldon goes on a rant about Ben Franklin and flexible catheters.  As you do.

Penny has friends over to watch football and didn’t invite Leonard because she knows he doesn’t like football which leads Leonard to conclude that Penny is embarrassed to introduce him to her friends.

Howard abandons Raj during the kite fight because he thought a cute jogger smiled at him. Howard lost Raj his kite which is being held by Sheldon who sings “I got your kite, I got your kite”.

Leonard asks Penny if she’s embarrassed of him. Penny says she’s not, she just didn’t invite him because she didn’t want him to be bored. Leonard says he wants to be friends with her friends so she invites him to next Saturday’s game. Leonard studies up on football with Raj, who says all he’s learned about football is that American, drink too much beer, men pee too much, and can’t get it up. His advice is to quit drinking so much beer so you can get out of the loo and please your woman. Hah.

Leonard is confused about the rules of football, but Sheldon seems to know all about it. The boys are surprised but Sheldon says he’s from Texas, and he knows everything there is to know about football, frying meats like chicken that aren’t actually chicken, and how to shoot close enough to a raccoon that he craps himself. Leonard asks Sheldon to help him and Sheldon agrees after he’s confirmed that Leonard is making a tier 1 friendship request.

Raj is still mad at Howard and won’t help him pick out a Vespa, so Howard brings Raj a Hello Kitty kite to make up for losing Raj’s other kite. Raj says that’s not good enough because it’s not the first time Howard’s ditched him to chase chick. Howard says he’ll go wherever Raj wants to make up for it. They go to the LaBrea Tar Pits. Howard chases a honey and Raj calls him a douche. Again.

Leonard makes an ass of himself during the game, of course. Sheldon comes over to borrow some bread for a sandwich (he made all their bread into Cylon toast) and also to give Leonard an out to fly kites. Leonard takes the out since he’s been there for hours and it’s only halftime.

Loved. It. Seriously, they cannot put enough Sheldon in this show to make me happy. He’s such a complex character in that who would have thought Sheldon would be some kind of football savant? I love that Leonard tries so hard to shed his geeky exterior but never quite manages to do so. What’d you think? Let’s all have a slice of Cylon toast in the comments!

    Sheldon knowing football…who knew?

  2. Shannon says:

I know, right! It’s cool, though.

Being somewhat of a commercial nerd, I loved Raj thinking he was learning about football from the commercials. Quit drinking too much beer so you can get out of the loo and please your woman-I love it!!!!

I loved how Sheldon just spewed out the definitions like everyone should know them-I love his deadpan.

I love Leonard trying to fit in-he’s so cute when he tries to shed his geekiness.

    I love this show!!!

Just getting to see this – thanks for covering, Shannon! I loved the Cylon toast, too! But man, was Leonard being whiny in this episode or what? Let Penny have her football day! I did like Raj finally calling Howard on being so chick-centric, but then finally realizing that being otherwise is just not Howardly, lol. And as always, yay Sheldon!
