The Top 6 Things I Learned from The Amazing Race 15

6. Dan & Sam [Brothers] Ah, airports: The Great Equalizer. All teams got on the same flight from Dubai to Amsterdam, and in the airport, the brothers came out to everyone as the “token gay team.” Poor Poker Girls… they never had a chance. After a flawless leg, the boys got to the Pit Stop in 1st, winning a set of Dune Buggies.

5. Meghan & Cheyne [Dating] At the Detour, teams chose between Farmers Dance and Farmers Game. M&C picked Game and had to dress up in traditional Dutch clothing, swim a little creek, and play a wacky game of gold that involved a wooden shoe on a stick. They didn’t do so well, but still got to Phil in 2nd.

4. Flight Time & Big Easy [Harlem Globetrotters] They chose Farmers Dance at the Detour and it was one of the funniest moments this season. Dressed in traditional garb, they had to learn a customary dance, and these two huge black men worked the dance floor! “By the end it was Soul Train!” When they got to Phil, he said: “Flight Time & Big Easy… you look ridiculous.” They ended in 3rd.

3. Gary & Matt [Father/Son] They started the Detour with Dance, but when they learned that they had to eat saletd herring at the end, they decided to switch to Game. It cost them some time, but they still got to the mat in 4th.

2. Ericka & Brian [Married] On the Road Block, teams had to climb a bell tower and count all the bells along the way. Everyone else got the number (62) on the first try. Not Ericka. It took her 4 times (that we saw) and a total of two hours to get the number right. They knew they were going to be eliminated, but they didn’t want to give up. So they went through the rest of the tasks (misreading one clue on the way) and got to Phil in 5th place… but that misreading cost them a 30-minute penalty. No worries, though: the 30 minutes passed and they stayed in the race.

1. Maria & Tiffany [Professional Poker Players] After switching back and forth between the Detour options a few times, they threw in the towel. I think it’s kind of unfair that both tasks had such a heavy strength component (ringing a High Stryker and golfing to par), but I wasn’t too fond of the poker girls anyway. They didn’t even make it to the mat. Phil showed up at the gold area and asked if they wanted to quit. They said “Yes” and he said “Bye.”

I’m SO glad the poker girls are gone. And how much did you laugh during Flight Time and Big Easy dancing? I loved it.

I loved the part with everyone in the airport talking. It actually seems like a season with people liking each other, truly.

I liked the poker players but I was surprised that they gave up. Of course we never really saw how long they really had been at it. What strikes me about this season’s Amazing Race is how good of friends they all are. They are downright chummy. Its odd but I kind of like it. I’m surprised you didn’t mention in your recap that the brothers gave the answer to Tiffany in the bell tower. That saved them tons of time which didn’t seem to matter in the end. I was still shocked that the brothers just GAVE the answer away.

Yeah – I was going to mention that the boys gave the poker girls the answer at the Road Block, but like you said – it didn’t matter in the end. That he gave her the answer didn’t shock me too much… I think the whole thing goes back to how tight everyone is. Like Farrah said, that airport confab showed that this is a pretty good group… willing to share their deepest, darkest secrets. Was it Gary who said “Should I tell [Matt] he’s adopted now?” Ha!
