Hello fellow How I Met Your Mother fans! Faye had to take the night off, but I’m a huge fan and gladly stepped in for the evening. I’m still on a high from super-uber Canadian Robin and can’t wait to see what tonight brings!
So a new couple moved in upstairs above Ted and Robin and they are always “playing the bagpipes.” If I could quote the entire first scene, I would. Maybe I will at the end because it was just that funny. Barney meets Ted at the bar and says Lily and Marshall are getting a divorce because Lily makes Marshall wash his dishes right away. And then Barney is holding Ted’s hands because he’s so scared. Barney, being the Barney he is, thinks he’s now the best at being in a relationship – better than Marshall! Barney explains how he and Robin never fight, instead he just leaves. 100% effective! Her way to avoid fighting? Getting naked. Classy. There’s a great “what if” scene about what Barney would do if HE was Lily’s husband being asked to do the dishes and Lily being a stripper for “what if” Barney. YOU TUBE THIS PEOPLE! YOU TUBE IT!! Marshall likes Barney’s idea but Ted doesn’t. They make a slap bet on what will happen. OH A SLAP BET! Lily kicks Marshall out and Ted slaps him right in the face. NICE.
Robin and Barney come back from their trip in sickeningly romantic form, with nicknames and all. Marshall tells Barney how his plan backfired and we get to see it play out. Oh, it did not work. At one point he started talking about painting naked babies on the ceiling. WOW, Marshall, WOW. This was followed by “I make more money than you. Dance for me.” This escalated into a full-fledged fight about everything in life. Barney tells Marshall not to back down and Marshall refers to his dishes as his “manhood” and runs out of the bar proclaiming he will wash his “manhood” when he’s good and ready! Ah, Marshall. Robin asked Ted if he went to the neighbors and when we see the flashback of him going up there, winds up they are a super old couple. Instead of saying anything to them, he just welcomed them to the neighborhood. Ok, ew? Old couple bagpiping? Yuck! Ted thinks something is up with Robin and Barney. While listening to the bagpiping, Ted realizes a way to get to the center of the Barney/Robin truth: Barney’s neighbor!
Phil, Barney’s neighbor, said they have been fighting a lot recently. Barney and Robin admit they hadn’t been fighting at all until the ski trip. They argue over the Marshall and Lily situation while stuck on top of a ski lift (Barney couldn’t run away and Robin couldn’t get naked). Marshall and Lily are still fighting. She won’t make him breakfast or dinner. She made a pancake and a bacon strip – for herself. So sad. Barney and Robin go to Lily and Marshall for advice and Marshall and Lily make up when they realize how much they love each other. After Barney and Robin leave, Marshall and Lily declare themselves the best couple in the world!
Overall, a good episode. The best part was the beginning with the bagpiping talk. How did they get through those lines? I hit rewind a few times because I thought it was that funny. I bet it starts a trend – not a slap bet, but a bet! 🙂 Faye should be back next week but I hope you enjoyed my guest R&R. I know I did! Oh, and what did you think about the episode? Do you all love Barney and Robin as much as I do? Leave your TwoCents below!

Great episode, and great guest-review Farrah! Man, I love me a good Slap Bet… which reminds me: the Thanksgiving episode this year is called “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap!” I CAN’T WAIT!
Slapsgiving 2??? OH MAN!!! Holler! I can’t wait.
I seriously think this is the best show EVER. 🙂
I’d love for it to be called that, but spoilerfix.com has it listed as “Maple Swirls”
The CBS press site (CBSPressExpress) has it listed as the “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap” scheduled for Nov. 23rd. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! 🙂 All I know for sure is that I want to see Barney pay up on one of those slaps just floating around out there! Marshall has two left, right?
Thank you sooo much for doing this for me! I swear, I fought so hard to stay awake through the episode, and once it ended, I was out.
This episode was REALLY funny!! I loved the bagpiping talk as well, and the lovey-dovey stuff between Barney and Robin.
And best of all “I make more money than you, dance for me.”
Wow, gotta love these writers!!
