Let me set the scene: you’re crippled with fear of heights and water… I mean really terrified. The task is to go down a water slide called “The Leap of Faith.” Then your jerky boyfriend tries to physically push/pull/throw you down the slide on more than one occasion. Sure, your crying is a little annoying and I don’t understand your extreme fear, but what shocks me the most is that you are dating that troll. Assault charges, anyone?

The Top 7 Things I Learned from The Amazing Race 15

7. Meghan & Cheyne [Dating] First at the Road Block at a ritzy marina, Cheyne had to row a dingy out to a yacht and was presented with a fancy-schmancy watch. He then had to row back and use the watch as a clue to open a locked briefcase for the next clue (the time on the watch as 8:35 and the combo was 835). I thought he might have trouble figuring it out, but he got it right out of the gate. They pretty much sailed through the rest of the challenges, getting to the Pit Stop in 1st (again) and winning two wave runners.

6. Maria & Tiffany [Professional Poker Players] At the Detour, teams were given a choice between Gold and Glass. The girls chose Gold and had to weigh out $500,000 in gold… a seemingly easy task, right? (Just divide the current exchange rate into 500,000! Duh!) Well, apparently basic math failed most teams… they could not figure it out if their life depended on it. The one tricky thing, I thought, was that the exchange rate changed every couple of minutes… but that is easily solved. Anyway, the poker girls are used to dealing with money and with the help of a calculator, they breezed through the Detour and came in 2nd.

5. Dan & Sam [Brothers] Who would think to bring a calculator on The Amazing Race? Well, they did! And their alliance with the poker girls helped, too. Even though the boys had the calculator, they couldn’t figure out the math. Are you kidding me?!? But, with the help of Maria and Tiffany, they got to the mat in 3rd.

4. Ericka & Brian [Married] They were one of the teams that first opted for the Gold Detour but couldn’t figure it out so they went to Glass, where they had to assemble 12 hookahs (smoking pipes… think the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland). Which brings me to one of my many Words of Advice for Racers: If you are to assemble anything and are given an example to follow, follow the example. Yes, Ericka, the hookahs you are assembling need to look like the ones already assembled. You’re killing me! They got to Phil in 4th.

3. Gary & Matt [Father/Son] With freshly dyed hair, the father/son team set out into the scorching heat of Dubai. The fumes from the dye may have gotten to Matt, however. At the Glass Detour, he almost passed out. Luckily, they were a hair (Ha! Get it?) faster than a couple of other teams and got to the Pit Stop in 5th.

2. Flight Time & Big Easy [Harlem Globetrotters] Big Easy in a little inflatable boat was pretty funny. When he couldn’t figure out the combo to the briefcase the funny went away. They struggled the entire leg and I was worried they would be sent packing. It would take a miracle for these two to not get eliminated… And they got that miracle (see Mika & Canaan below), coming in 6th.

1. Mika & Canaan [Newly Dating] Seriously. I am hating Canaan right now. The final challenge was to go down a HUGE water slide and Mika just couldn’t do it. She was absolutely frozen with fear. But instead of being the supportive, loving boyfriend he could have been, Canaan turned psycho and tried to physically throw her off the slide… a few times. She actually was screaming for help from the lifeguard on duty. It was disgusting. I really believe that if he would have talked to her and calmed her and helped her and supported her… she would have gone down the slide. Dear Mika – I’m sorry for your fear… I can sympathize. But please dump that jerk!

I would love to know where Mika got the floaties from. And I think she was a tad over dramatic with the whole thing and I don’t see Canaan AS bad as you do. I think we’ve seen worse than his actions on the show, including super major verbal abuse by Meathead as recent as last week. A lot of people get over their fears on this show and she’s a young naive girl and she should’ve done it. Just my two cents though. 🙂

On the plus side, I like Flight Time and Big Easy WAY more than them so I’m kinda glad she freaked out.
