Looks like NCIS has a new probie!!!
Now before you go crazy and get mad or disappointed please continue reading. However if you have not seen the episode I recommend you to watch the episode first it would be a shame if you read on and find out what happens before you actually see it.
Seven seasons and the show is still going strong, maybe even stronger then before. I was anxiously awaiting this episode and at the same time I really didn’t want to see it. But I love the show too much to not watch it so here I was waiting and anticipating, ready to see what the team has in store for us next and I was not disappointed.
While Ziva´s NCIS application is still pending a shrimp fisher finds the remains of a former Marine. They find out that he was a passenger on the same boat as Ziva took. Only problem is that supposedly the boat sank and there where no survivors. A mystery that still had to be explained, since Ziva apparently survived it. The second problem is the bullet hole in the skull.
Vance is the one who wants to interrogate Ziva, he asks Gibbs to play ‘good cop, bad cop’ and not only we but also Gibbs is confused about the role that Vance plays. But apparently he was playing the good cop. Gibbs is sitting in Vance´s office watching the interrogation on the flat screen while Vance is so called ´talking´ to Ziva. Asking her what happened on the boat that took her to Somalia.
Abby finds conflicting information in something that Ziva said. She claimed that the ship sank in a storm. The only storm Abby is able to find on that day couldn´t have sunk the ship or the body of the Marine could not be in the place where it is found. Abby has reported her information to a NCIS team in the area and they find the ship wreck and eighteen more bodies. Vance takes the friendly talk with Ziva to an interrogation room, while Tony, McGee and Abby try to find evidence to help Ziva. Abby is worried that Gibbs is not on ´team Ziva´.
And then another twist is thrown into the story when there shows up a Mossad officer who claims that he is Ziva’s team leader and that he was at the ship as well. He claims that Ziva killed the US Marine. And that is when Gibbs gets to play ‘bad cop’, he puts Ziva and her team leader in one interrogation room. Where he tells Ziva that he claims that Ziva killed the Marine, when Ziva wants to deny it. Her Mossad team leader says that of course she is denying it. And that is the moment when Gibbs shows him the bullet that collaborates Ziva’s story.
Ziva has gone through hell and back and she made it, she might be damaged goods but Vance is going to take a chance on her. Vance hands Gibbs the papers which approve Ziva as a probational NCIS agent.
Funny thing is that even though papa David has not hesitated to send his own daughter on numerous ´suicide´ missions and he even goes as far as to send a Mossad Officer to America to accuse Ziva of killing a US Marine the second he hears that Ziva is approved as a NCIS agent he all of the sudden cares. <
Of course Vance is in the nasty position that he needs Eli David, or rather Mossad as an ally and he can´t just terminate the relationship that NCIS and Mossad have build over the years. They need each other whether they like it or not. The first seconds of that scene where Vance is on the phone with Eli David I was convinced that we were going to see the real Vance behind the facade. I am still not convinced that he is who he claims to be… but then the camera turned and Gibbs is sitting right there next to him. Of course the scene was written that way, to make us doubt Vance for a second. They give us all these little hints, they make us doubt him. And that makes me wonder why…
I think that after reading that approval letter Ziva really couldn’t care less about that stack of paperwork Tim and Tony dropped on her desk. Ziva is back where she belongs with her ‘family’ and this time Papa David doesn’t have the leverage anymore, NCIS does.
I am so looking forward to see the first episode of Probie David!

I loved this episode (of course, I’m hard-pressed to find an episode I didn’t love. 😉 )
Probie David! I’m looking forward to that too.
So, what do you think Gibbs whispered to Ziva before kissing her head? 🙂
