Annnd we’re back! Welcome to study group, where this week we learn a lesson in human behavior, from relationships to what could be seen as moderately abnormal.

Trudy – I mean Annie – finds Duncan who is running a psych lab and begs him to let her join in, even though she’s not an upper classman. He agrees and tells her to bring two subjects, so she recruits Abed and Troy. The subjects are all secluded in a room and Duncan and the psych students are in another, watching them on monitors. The experiment is to see how long a person will wait for something to start before having a complete breakdown. Annie’s job is to tell the subjects over and over again that the experiment will start in five minutes. The first subject to lose it is Senor Chang after five minutes (who also has a bone to pick with Annie because of her teacher survey about him.)

Eventually everyone freaks out and Troy and Abed are left, but soon enough Troy bolts, leaving Abed who sits for 26 hours before Duncan throws his own fit over Abed not breaking down. With the experiment over, Annie yells at Abed to go home. Later, he says that he was livid about sitting there all day when an Indiana Jones marathon was playing, but because Annie told him they were friends when she originally asked him, he stayed. She gifts him with Indiana Jones movies 1-3 (because the fourth one sucked) and Abed declares them good.

Meanwhile, Britta has a boyfriend named Vaughn who is earthy and into green tea and poetry. Shirley and Jeff make fun of him relentlessly, even after Jeff says he’s going to try and be a good friend to Britta and support her. He and Shirley gossip about V and the fact that he has tiny nipples, and when Britta shows Jeff a poem Vaughn wrote for her, Jeff can’t help but take a picture of it and show Shirley. She then shows Pierce after he thinks they were making fun of him, and pretty soon the entire study group has seen it. Everyone is laughing when Britta and Vaughn walk in, the latter reading the poem over Pierce’s shoulder. Britta and Vaughn break up, Shirley blames everything on Jeff, and you’d think that Britta would stay mad at Jeff for a long time. She doesn’t though, she just relegates him to the type of friend who sometimes cat sits.

In the bumper, Abed and Troy are making fun of people in the library, when Jeff clues them in to the fact that everyone can hear them. That’s after saying some pretty cutting remarks to some burly guys. “Just pretend like you were sleeping,” is Troy’s advice.

There is a tie for quote of the night.

Boys are icky
Britta: It’s getting all relationshipy. And last night he gave me something.
Jeff: Herpes?

How does he even know this show?
Jeff: Oh my God, my life is Degrassi High.

That’s it for this week. Your homework is to come up with a better name for us than ‘study group’ – You guys can do it! I’m to the point with this show where I tell all of my friends that they must be watching! What about you? Once we’ve got 30 Rock back, Thursday nights will be amazing. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and – have you ever been part of a psych experiment? Leave me your Two Cents in the comments!
