big bang is rising

We’re only about two weeks into the new fall season and already shows are being talked about – in good and bad ways.
First, the good news. According to Nielson ratings, NCIS, House and the Big Bang Theory are doing better than ever! The bad news? The Mentalist, CSI: Miami and Desperate Housewives all are doing worse than last season (oh, my poor Simon Baker! And maybe bringing hottie Eddie Cibrian on to CSI: Miami will help them this week?). Guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens to our prime-time faves.
In the ongoing saga of late-night talk shows, Jay Leno is not fairing well, losing millions of viewers since his premiere. However, having him as a lead in is helping Conan O’Brien. Before Leno’s show came along, David Letterman was beating O’Brien, but now O’Brien is looking up. Oh wait, forgot to read ahead … Letterman was in reruns! Looks like O’Brien may need to hope Letterman takes a few more vacations! (And get well to Conan … that fall looked painful! If you don’t know what I’m referring to, Conan took a nasty fall last week on set while taping with Terri Hatcher.)
After only two episodes, the CW’s The Beautiful Life: TBL was canceled. I guess Mischa Barton will go back to being in the tabloids and Corbin Bleu will head back to Disney to beg for a job. Just kidding! There was a slight controversy over why TBL was canceled and Melrose Place wasn’t. The CW’s answer was it hopes that Melrose’s ratings will increase when Heather Locklear appears as a guest star in November. In the meantime, Melrose sits 123rd.
In the world of reality TV, the top three shows were the History Channel’s Pawn Stars, Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta and Lifetime’s Project Runway. Where was Jon and Kate Plus 8? Besides on the cover of your favorite tabloid, they were in 316th place!
