Before I get started, GO BUY HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, SEASON 4 ON DVD AND BLU-RAY, IN STORES NOW! After I finish this review, I plan on doing just that. My keys are in my hand, and I’m ready to go! See, I think it’s very important for all of you go buy it on DVD, because to truly appreciate How I Met Your Mother season 5, you need to own seasons 1-4 and watch them all the time, over and over and over again. (Okay, that might just be what I do, but hey-it’s a fun time)!
Okay, so enough about that, this episode of HIMYM was very funny! I happen to LOVE the episodes that constantly flashback. For those of you that are just joining the series, it’s important to understand that the whole show is one giant flashback, and it gets even better when they put flashbacks within this flashback, and that’s what this episode was based upon. Let me dissect it for you.
Lily, Marshall, Barney, and Robin- I’m clumping all four of them together since their major scenes and roles in this particular episode depend on each other. Barney and Marshall end up at a strip club. Marshall finds it very difficult to be there since he feels as if he’s cheating on Lily. He even goes through elaborate fantasies of Lily having to die before he gets to fantasize about another woman. (His fantasy started with Lily getting fatal hiccups and her telling him to bang a hot delivery girl in a few years in the future). While at the strip club, a stripper comes out, looking IDENTICAL to Lily. Apparently it’s a goal of the group to find each person’s twin. So far, they have a “Lesbian Robin,” a “Mustache Marshall,” and now, a “Stripper Lily.”
However, Marshall still feels very guilty about this activity, that he apologizes to Lily, who informs him it’s alright to fantasize about other women, as long as a fantasy is all it is. But that won’t stop her from buying her and Marshall a lap dance from her stripper twin. Robin on the other hand, is very upset with Barney for going to the strip club. Turns out, he goes there all the time that even the announcer greets him as he’s announcing the strippers. Barney doesn’t seem to understand that she’s not okay with it, but in the end, becomes more sensitive to her feelings since they are in fact boyfriend and girlfriend. This storyline was great, and it ended with Lily getting into the stripper costume and trying to do the dances that her body double could do.
Ted- Ted is on a blind date with a girl named Jenn. Halfway through the date, they both realize that 7 years ago, they went on the same blind date with each other. They try to figure out where it went wrong. This is where the flashbacks come into play. They retrace every step of that date, telling each other where they both went wrong. Ted was told that he told too corny of jokes, and Jenn was told that she was a crazy cat lady (not those exact words, but you get the picture). Ted was upset that she didn’t try to pay 7 years ago, because he likes feeling “macho” for taking the check and saying “I’ll get this.” Jenn said that it upset her that she kept hinting that she was cold, but Ted never gave up his jacket. This kept going on, and they were both learning a lot. Until, they find out that in fact, the date went very well, but Ted never called her back. They decided to give it one more go, but then Ted came clean about why he never called her back. I loved this part! He explained that the person they should be with isn’t someone that just tolerates their quirks, but actually likes them. Because of that reason, things weren’t going to work out again for Ted and Jenn. But the flashbacks for their storyline ROCKED.
GO BUY SEASON 4 OF HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER TODAY! I hope you all enjoyed this episode as much as I did. What did you think about this episode? Put your TwoCents in the comments! I’ll see you all next week.

I can’t wait to see the Barney double (Old Ted did say he’d “get to that later”).
The only thing that bugged me this episode was the Barney/Robin relationship. Last episode, they “lied” to Lily and said that they were, indeed, bf/gf. Now they are acting the part a bit too well – with no reference between the two that their relationship still hasn’t been defined. Nit-picky, I know. Oh, well.
Still – great episode!
That’s the exact same thing that bothered me as well Rachel. They went from lying about it to admitting to dating? There’s something missing here..although I’m not complaining because I love them together!
Yes, that did bother me too, but it’s sooo cute to see NPH as a “boyfriend” since I picture him as my boyfriend all the time!!
I’m still not sure how I feel about the whole Robyn/Barney thing, yet. I was rooting for them all last season but now…well, let’s just see what happens.
Oh and Mustache Marshall = Epic!!
