It’s a full moon and all the crazies are out… killing people, apparently. Two seemingly unrelated murders become the foundation of a bet involving head-shaving and cross-dressing. Who will solve their case first? How will Castle look in a dress?

Castle & Beckett’s Case: Ashley Causeway, a marriage therapist, is found murdered in her office.

Red Herring One: Ms. Rossi, Ashley’s best friend who was the last to see her alive. They had take out the night of the murder, where Ashley asked her lawyer friend about getting a restraining order.

Red Herring Two: Hal Ross, one of Ashley’s patients, with a history of domestic violence. He and his wife overhead Ashley arguing with her 1:00 appointment that Friday.

Red Herring Three: Evan Hinkle, Ashley’s normal 1:00 appointment every Friday for the past two years… except the Friday in question. He canceled because of a trip to the ER.

Red Herring Four: Jason Causeway, Ashley’s husband and the person Hal Ross overheard her arguing with. Too bad he had an air-tight alibi broadcast on national TV.

Red Herring Five: Mr. Grovener, whom Ashley testified against five years ago. Coincidentally, he also had be book for assault against the second murder victim (whose murder Esposito and Ryan are investigating). He, however, is sporting a parole ankle bracelet and his whereabouts check out.

Who Done It?: Seems that Jason Causeway and the son-in-law (Eric) of the second murder victim (Frank) met on a NYC water taxi… and agreed to “get rid of” each others problems. Jason killed Frank and Eric killed Ashley. The perfect crime… almost. PS – No one won the bet.

TwoCents TwoFavorite Moments:
1. Castle eating popcorn while watching all the crazies that come to the precinct on a full moon.
2. The entire bet storyline… and trying to keep it secret from Beckett.

TwoCents TwoFavorite Quotes:
1. “I’m just saying whoever killed her also murdered the English language.” -Castle upon seeing that the murderer spelled a word wrong at the murder scene
2. “He’s clean… so to speak.” -Esposito after frisking Mr. Grovener

  1. Mike says:

To determine who won the bet, you must first determine what the final objective of the bet was. Originally, it was to catch the killer of their respective murder victims (the psychiatrist was Castle and Beckett’s, the street mugging victim was Ryan and Esposito’s). However, before they entered the interrogation rooms towards the end, it seemed that the objective had changed to who could get their suspect to crack first. Castle and Beckett “gave up” on getting a confession out of their suspect, and instead used trickery to help Ryan and Esposito get a confession out of their suspect, in turn, being a first hand implication of their suspect’s guilt. The thing is, the killer that confessed (to Ryan and Esposito) was the killer of Castle and Beckett’s victim. So…who won?
