Those wacky Amazing Racers are at it again! In the 15th (you read that right) installment of the Emmy-Award-winning reality show, 12 teams race around the world for… well, you know the drill.
The Top 12 Things I Learned from The Amazing Race 15
Eric & Lisa [Married Yoga Teachers] Don’t get too attached to this team. In the first challenge 2 seconds out of the gate in LA, teams had to find a specific Japanese license plate among thousands and redeem it for a plane ticket to Tokyo. I guess the producers didn’t plan very well, because they only bought 11 tickets for 12 teams! What to do? I know! Eliminate the last team to find a plate. This poor team was in the Race for all of 5 minutes. How embarrassing!
Gary & Matt [Father/Son] Thinking the race would help them reconnect, this father/son team from Montana did some major reconnecting… in the form of a first place finish on the Vietnam leg and a prize of brand new kayaks.
Herbert & Nathaniel [Harlem Globetrotters] “Flight Time” and “Big Easy” are fun. The Harlem Globetrotters, for heaven’s sake! And they are sweet, too. When they had to lead a group of Japanese tourists around Tokyo, a little old lady was having a hard time. Flight Time held her hand the entire way! How cute! The only problem I can foresee is the playing of the HG Theme song every time they are on the screen… that’s gonna get old. They came in second.
Daniel & Samuel [Brothers] A pair of good-looking, buff brothers? Sorry, ladies, they’re both gay. Isn’t that always the case? Anyway, this team did great in the Japanese Game Show challenge: Sushi Roulette (which is exactly what it sounds like). When Dan got the “Wasabi Bomb,” he finished it the fastest of all competitors. This helped them land a solid 3rd in Vietnam.
Lance & Keri [Engaged] Here’s my pick of the most annoying person on the race: Lance the Meathead! I’m already sick of him. Unfortunately, they came in 4th.
Zev & Justin [Friends] Zev has a form of Autism called Asburgers Syndrome, which mostly affects his social skills. In a refreshing way, though, his Asburgers allows him to say whatever he’s thinking with no filter. I think that is going to be really fun on this season. He’s also really child-like. When he saw a guy in Vietnam without a jacket in a torrential downpour, he simply gave him his jacket. Awesome. The team came in 5th.
Meghan & Cheyne [Dating] These two love birds met in elementary school and did very well on the Japanese leg of the race, coming in first and winning a trip for two to Aspen and Vale. Their luck seemed to dwindle, though, in Vietnam, and they landed in 6th.
Maria & Tiffany [Professional Poker Players] Poker players bluff, right? Well, their bluff was that they both work for a non-profit in LA that helps homeless kids. Good lie, but unfortunately they we recognized in the Tokyo airport. The jig is up. Also, they don’t really get along… the finished dead last in the Japanese round, but luckily it was a non-elimination (already, producers???). In Vietnam, they had the worlds easiest Speed Bump and came in 7th.
Mika & Canaan [Newly Dating] This born-again Nashville singers/songwriter couple are not going to do well. I can tell already. First off, she has a fear of water. Second, they came in 10th in Japan and 8th in Vietnam. I don’t see them going much further. Now that I’ve typed that, they’ll probably win the whole thing.
Marci & Ronald [Dating] This older couple met on the Internet. He’s quiet and she’s loud. That’s about all I got from their time on screen. They came in 9th.
Ericka & Brian [Married] A former Miss America, Ericka did a great job on the Duck Herding Road Block. Let me rephrase that, she did a great job on her 4th try of the Duck Herding Road Block. They got to Phil in 10th.
Garrett & Jessica [Dating On and Off] Jessica really choked on the duck herding, and because of that, they came in last and were eliminated from the race. After they found out, Garret went a little Hulk and slapped the boat they were on. Phil asked “Does he get angry like this a lot?” Yea, they went on the race to see, once and for all, if they were meant to be together. My guess is “no.”
What do YOU think? Was it as great a premiere as you were hoping? What teams are your favorite? Who will be eliminated next? Give us your Two Cents in the comment section below!
Next Week: It’s Like Being Dropped on Planet Mars (Vietnam)

Oh Rachel, how I love thee and your review of The Amazing Race. 🙂
I couldn’t believe the twist at the beginning. It was really fun though! And made for a much more interesting 2 hour premiere. 🙂
My favorite team by far is Zev and Justin. I love how you can see the trust between the two and how Justin is soft with him without being degrading. Zev has such a true soul but makes for great one liners, like calling Justin a fat cow after he ate the Wasabi. I also think it’s hilarious they don’t like the poker player girls (oh don’t get me started on them!) and the girls don’t like them either, for the exact same reasons.
I totally agree about the Globetrotters theme music but at least it distracts us every once in a while from the normal TAR music.
I LOVEEE Sam and Dan and I SOOO hope they play Maria and Tiffany like fiddles.
Doesn’t Lance remind you of Jonathan from Jonathan and Victoria from seasons past? Minus the verbal/physical abuse (well, as of yet..).
I like Ericka better than any other former model/Miss (insert whatever state/country/pageant you’d like here). She is willing to get dirty and doesn’t cry like a baby. She just goes with the flow and fights like the boys.
This is a really long comment but it was a 2 hour premiere and I loved it super mucho. Can’t wait until next week!!!
I really like Zev and Justin, too. Such a sweet friendship! And Lance TOTALLY reminds me of Jonathan. Man, he was such a tool.
🙂
Thanks for sharing, really like your view. Waiting for some more great articles like this from you in the coming days.
