Michael is having a colonoscopy. He calls Oscar in for a consult on what he should expect and whether or not he should have a “safe word”. And that, kids, is your cringe moment of the day.

David Wallace is in Scranton for a meeting with Jim. It’s just David and Jim; Michael’s not invited. Michael pretends he’s ok with it, but you know how Michael is. He grills Pam about what the meeting is about and then tries to crash the meeting. The most creative way is when he has Andy wheel him into the conference room hidden underneath a makeshift cheese cart (using cheese off sandwiches found in the breakroom refrigerator, I might add).

Darryl is having a workers’ comp meeting with Toby about his breaking his ankle in the warehouse. Dwight is there to ask a lot of questions and then there’s talk about communist Sweden and universal healthcare and it’s all so gosh darn topical. Dwight tries to convince Toby that Darryl is lying. Dwight and Toby scope out Darryl’s house. They see Darryl carrying a big bag of dog food, and Toby calls him a rude name but it’s not Darryl. It’s Darryl’s baby sister who looks just like him. Darryl says he’s calling corporate and filing a complaint against both Toby and Dwight. Toby and Dwight make a little trip to the warehouse to see the loaders using the lift as an elevator and Dwight correctly guesses that Darryl hurt his ankle climbing over the railing into the lift. Dwight and Darryl agree to file complaints against each other while Toby has to wade through the paperwork.

Pam and Jim are getting married in Niagara Falls. They planned it that way so the office wouldn’t show up, but Michael’s giving everyone who goes Friday and Monday off so people either go to the wedding or go to work. Hmm, I know which I’d pick. Pam talks to Kelly about whether or not she’s coming to the wedding. Kelly won’t go unless Ryan’s there. Ryan is coming because, hey, free food. Meredith is coming to the wedding also but she won’t send in her RSVP card. She’ll have whatever’s fanciest to eat (unless there’s ribs) and she’ll text Pam the day of the wedding for directions! Easy peasy!

David talks to Michael about whether or not Jim is ready for a management position. Michael says Jim is like Big Bird. He’s tall and yellow and nice, but not someone you put in charge. Michael gives David Jim’s performance review Michael changes his tune when he finds out Jim has proposed that Michael and Jim both get promoted. Jim also has another job offer. David has Jim walk him out to his car. Jim looks sad.

Jim asks Michael if Jim came up when David and Michael were talking. Jim says he felt like his earlier meeting went well and then after D and M talked things changed. Michael calls David while Jim listens and tells him that he should give Jim the promotion. David says that’s not what Michael said earlier and now Jim knows that Michael sabotaged him.

David Wallace calls back and offers a co-manager situation. Michael doesn’t like it because he’s the manager but it’s either that or lose Jim. Michael announces it and Dwight is highly disrespected, judging by his screaming talking head.

Meh, it was a decent episode. I loved the cheese cart bit, actually. My goldfish sometimes like to swim in the blue cheese dressing too. What do your goldfish like to swim in? Also, what did you think of the episode? What hijinks will ensue now that Jim is a manager? Leave a comment!

I thought it was a good episode. Toby yelling at Darryl’s sister was hilarious. Andy and the cheese cart was funny. Dwight yelling at the end was classic. I’m interested to see where Jim’s new desk location will be. That can be an entire episode…he could get Michael’s current office…and then I can see Michael turn the conference room into his new office, so its bigger than Jim’s…office. That would be funny stuff.

  2. Shannon says:

I can totally see that happening. Good call.

Also, I wonder what the protocol is for being your pregnant fiancee’s boss…hmmm.

  3. Rachel says:

Oh my WORD that cold open was uncomfortable!!

I loved the cheese cart “tour” that Andy gave. He had some of the best lines of the episode!

And my goldfish sometimes swim in peanut butter. I use the term “swim” loosely.

  4. Shannon says:

Really, the cheese cart was the highlight of the episode. I wish every episode could have a cheese cart. Well, not really, but you get the idea.
