So Daisy is absolutely obsessed with Colin, her new dog. Tim is still totally unimpressed. He’s a little hostile about it. He calls Colin a ‘ticking timebomb of death’, as a matter of fact. Apparently fuzzy and cute equal natural born killer in Tim’s mind.
While Dasiy appreciates that Tim is riddled with deep-seated psychological disorders, she wants him to make an effort to try with Colin, and he grudgingly agrees. As this is happening, Daisy and Tim keep being followed by and running in to (literally in Tim’s case) and evil and suspicious looking man on the streets.
Tim doesn’t seem overly concerned, though, and he just goes about his day, in which he’d planned to show Brian Star Wars. Daisy and Colin sit in, Brian is properly awed by the film, and Tim gets talked into walking Colin when the movies are over… which is when Colin gets abducted by Mr. Creepy.
They set about running all over town looking for him, and later Tim gets home to find Daisy just sitting there. She’s gotten a letter along with Colin’s collar, informing her that Colin was taken by a vivisectionist. The letter gives them all the information they need to get Colin back, and they call everyone over to devise a plan to break into the lab.
Tim gives them all Star Wars aliases (Twist is happy with Jabba because she thinks Jabba is the princess), and off they go. They storm the lab, Mike and Brian going to handle the security guard, who they wind up just chatting with. Daisy and Twist watch the door of the building Tim goes into to rescue the dog, and Daisy spends that time productively teasing Twist about having a thing for Brian.
Tim winds up not only rescuing Colin, but a crate of kittens as well, and on the way out, the security guard just lets them out when the gate gets stuck. Looks like they found out who sent the note.
This is one of my favorite episodes of this show. While I can’t claim to be a ‘Star Wars Geek’, I definitely love the movies (though I DO share Tim’s hatred of the prequels). I think this episode pulls off the parody brilliantly. It’s honestly one of the best Star Wars parodies I’ve ever watched. I like the subtlety of it, if parody can ever be called subtle. There are lines thrown out that refer to the original that are funny, without having to be over the top.
This episode also has several of my favorite lines of the series. I love Daisy’s speech about toasted sandwich makers, and Bilbo (Tim’s boss) and Tim’s reactions to it. I also have to giggle every time I hear Tim explain that none of them had ever done anything like this break in before, aside from Mike, who once stole a tank and tried to invade Paris.
Next week, I’ll be reviewing Epiphanies, and we can all watch as Brian faces his fears.
