Well, after 88 million votes, American has put the “go” in Gokey — contestant Danny Gokey that is. The final will be between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

I was a bit surprised Danny didn’t get in the final two as he did an amazing job Tuesday night with “You Are So Beautiful.” But I think America got it right. Kris is a real artist (if you listen to him on iTunes, you appreciate his quiet voice even more) and Adam is one of the most talented contestants ever.

We also got to see a Ford video set to “Break My Stride” that showed more creativity than the last few, with the Top 3 as comic book-like heroes. Jordin Sparks proved how much she’s matured as a performer in the two years since winning S6. Katy Perry’s new single is catchy, but she came out with an Elvis-like cloak with Adam Lambert’s name on it — no mystery as to who she’s voting for.

Lots of familiar faces in the audience; Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Jasmine Murray and I think Scott MacIntyre. Plus, in Danny’s homecoming we saw fan favorite, Jamar Rogers (Danny shared his parade with his pal, who got cut after Hollywood Week).
