After 3 continents, 9 countries, and over 40,000 miles, we have come to the oddly anticlimactic end of the 14th installment of The Amazing Race. Who won? The team I picked from the beginning (but not the team I was rooting for).

The Top 3 Things I Learned from The Amazing Race Season 14

Tammy & Victor [Siblings/Lawyers]: No surprises here. The racers flew from China to Maui for the last stage of the race and the traditional mind-melting final Road Block: Remember everything that has happened to you over the entire race. They had to pick out 11 surfboards with pictures representing the 11 legs of the race and place them in order on a rack. These surfboards, mind you, were mingled among a hundred of there surfboards with random pictures. Victor took this Road Block and with a steady brain sailed past Luke who had arrived at this final roadblock with a substantial lead. The brother and sister team won the million in a not-so-racy final leg of the race.

Cara & Jaime [Former NFL Cheerleaders]: They came in second? What? Their bad luck with cab drivers continued in Hawaii (note to the taxi dispatch lady who said she was not their personal concierge… um, yes you are. They hired your services, jerk.), and they just about imploded when they had to transport and prepare a whole pig for a luau, but Jaime, too, sailed past Luke at the Road Block. They were minutes away from becoming the first all-girl team to win the race.

Margie & Luke [Mother/Son]: Out of the gates these two were in the lead. Margie looked like she was a stunt driver in a Bond film on those jet skis, and Luke had been studying the entire race, knowing that the last Road Block would be a twisted game of memory. The odds were in their favor until the very last surfboard representing the last leg of the race. Luke simply could not find the right board (scorpions on a stick, FYI). After Victor passed him, he helped Jaime find her one missing board and then she told him the answer to the 11th board as she was leaving. It was a touching moment at the mat when he talked about how some Deaf kids don’t have parents that sign and how lucky he is to have Margie for his mom… the “Bionic Woman” as Phil called her. It was a nice note to end my own Mother’s Day on, even if they didn’t win.

What do YOU think? Was it as anticlimactic for you? Give us your Two Cents… We’ll make an audition tape for next season.
