Welcome back, Grey’s fans! Are you ready for another week of medical drama and hospital incest? Buckle your safety belts and hop onboard this week’s (condensed) Grey’s Recap & Review!
THE GREYS
Meredith’s dad is back and apparently he’s in A&A and trying to get sober. Step Nine is to make amends with those you have hurt- hence Lexi and Meredith. Meredith accepts his apology but ultimately is not interested in making amends. Lexi feels a bit differently. She even wants her Dad to meet Mark but he is reluctant because Dads- as he explains- typically don’t like him. But, Mark comes around, cleans himself up, and meets Lexi and her Dad for dinner- and the Dad seems to like him, too.
IZZIE & HER MOM
An “old friend” of Izzie’s stops by to visit- aka her Mom- and Izzie is pretty surprised to say the least. Holy cow Izzie’s Mom talks a mile a minute. In fact, Izzie would like to know who called her Mom because she certainly didn’t. Izzie’s Mom is apparently into phone psychics and tarot cards. Finally Izzie tries to explain just how serious her “skin cancer” is because her Mom seemed to think it was just a mole. Now Izzie’s Mom is really sad. That kind of makes me sad.
Izzie’s Mom is sweet but she kind of annoys Izzie a lot. Bailey lies about a scan result to make it sound like Izzie is going to be OK- but that was just a ploy so Izzie’s Mom would leave. In reality the results aren’t very good- some of the cancer is smaller, but some new ones have appeared, too. Izzie’s Mom leaves and Izzie has to go into another surgery.
MEAN DADDY
A guy comes in all shot up. Like ten bullets or something. Come to find out the killer is a little girl. Although right away the Mom is making up some BS story about it being an accident blah blah blah so I am thinking that the Dad has something to hide, and the Mom knows, and this should get interesting. Soon we find out something like twenty bullets went through this guy (did the little girl reload?) and when Meredith is talking to her she asks if her Daddy is going to die, and Meredith says no, and the little girl asks “why not- I shot him lots of times” or something like that. CRAZY!
Soon we find out that the Dad is a child beater and the little girl was trying to stop her Dad from beating her. I say we give this little girl an award! In fact, Meredith lambastes the Mom when she tries to make the little girl apologize to the Dad before his surgery. Chief isn’t very happy about the outburst because technically the mom is a victim of abuse, too, so Chief orders Meredith to stay away from the patients or face suspension… permanent suspension.
But Meredith butts in again- in a good way. This leads the Chief to apologize to Meredith for not defending her while he was having an affair with Meredith’s mom. And, of course, the Mom and the little girl tell the Dad they are leaving- for good- while the Dad is recovering and too weak to follow them.
VERDICT
Well, readers, what’s your two cents? I thought that this episode was OK. Honestly the preview from last week made it seem like it was going to be way better though. Damn you, ABC!!

I think that Grey’s is finding its stride again, and considering how much I loved this show that excites me. Although there is still a huge Hahn-shaped hole in my heart that the peds surgeon cannot fill. 😦
