A TTC TV Scheduling News Brief

Lots of things are changing everyday in the TV-verse, so to continue getting news out to you in a timely fashion, here are some random scheduling additions and changes you might like to know about.

  1. On Tuesday, Sept 6, Jimmy Kimmel Live will pay tribute to Uncle Frank Potenza. This show will celebrate many moments from Uncle Frank’s nine-year tenure as a security guard and on-air contributor for his nephew’s late-night show. “Jimmy Kimmel Live” will pay homage to Uncle Frank by highlighting his comedy pieces, notable interviews with everyone from Tom Cruise to Kermit the Frog, plus a visit from comedian and friend Don Rickles, who will reminisce with Jimmy about this kind and irreplaceable man who was indeed an Uncle to all who knew him.
  2. Wipeout episode “Does This Avatar Make Me Look Fat?” will switch air dates with the episode titled “Blind Date 2.0: This Could Get Ugly”. “Wipeout” airs the first mentioned episode Tuesday, Sept 13 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) and the second mentioned episode as its season finale on Thursday, Sept 15 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET).
  3. AMC’s The Walking Dead kicks-off a two week long Fearfest debuting its second season with a 90-minute premiere episode, airing at 9 PM ET on Sunday, Oct 16 and six one-hour episodes in the weeks following. The final six episodes of the season commences on Sunday, Feb 12 at 9pm ET.  The 90 minute version is also scheduled to be launched globally on all Fox International Channels, following the US premiere the week of October 17th-23rd.
  4. I Hate My Teenage Daughter, the new family comedy starring Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran as single moms, best friends – and former nerds – who fear their privileged and overly indulged daughters are turning out just like the mean girls who picked on them in high school, will now debut on Wednesday, Nov. 30 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) after The X Factor on FOX.

The New Cast of the Next Amazing Race

Eleven teams will embark on the adventure of a lifetime on the new season of THE AMAZING RACE, premiering Sunday, Sept. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Emmy Award nominee Phil Keoghan is the host.

This season, the multi-Emmy Award-winning series sends 11 new Teams on a Race around the globe, making first time visits to exotic locations such as Indonesia, Malawi, Belgium and Denmark. Along the way, Teams will travel through four continents and 20 cities and cover nearly 40,000 miles.

Who’s Coming to SNL First This Season

Saturday Night Live will be premiering their 37th season on NBC on September 24th. The premier will open with four consecutive shows that will be highlighted by special guest appearances and musical performances.

Alex Baldwin will be hosting this premier marking his 16th appearance. Baldwin has received many award recognitions such as two Emmys, three Golden Globes, five SAG Awards and a Televison Critics Association Award which he received for his significant role on NBC’s 30 Rock.

On the night of this premier there will be a musical performance from the three-time Grammy Award winning band, RadioHead. They will be returning for their second performance and have recently released their new album “The King Of Limbs.’

Another great performer  hosting SNL will be CBS’ “Mike and Molly” star, Melissa McCarthy. She will be making her first appearance on Saturday Night Live as a host on October 1st.

That night will also be the debut of a musical performance made by the six time Grammy award winning trio, Lady Antebellum. The band who’s single “Just A Kiss” is topping the charts and  have reached double and triple platinum status and spawned several number one hits, including “Need You Now” as reported by  the NBC press release. Their newest album “Own the Night” will be released on September thirteen.

DWTS Announces New Cast, Partners, and Dates

A dynamic lineup of stars – including a U.S. veteran, an NBA champion, a film and TV star, a TV host and journalist, a Grammy-nominated singer, a supermodel, a reality TV star, a showbiz legacy and activist, and a World Cup star — will take the stage for the two-hour season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

All 12 couples will dance for the first time on live national television on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, either performing the Cha Cha or The Viennese Waltz. Airing on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.), a live, one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: Meet the Cast,” will feature the most exciting moments from Monday night’s performances, with commentary from the judges and never-before-seen footage from the teams’ first weeks of training. Then, on the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show,” TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER, 20 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), the couple with the lowest combined judges’ scores and public votes for their performance will be sent home in the season’s first elimination.

TNT Fall 2011 Premiere Schedule

After scoring its most successful summer of original programming ever, including the launch of mega-hit Falling Skies, TNT is set to heat up the fall and winter with a terrific lineup of popular and acclaimed original series and a showcase of new original movies. The drama network’s slate includes the return of basic cable’s top two series of all time, The Closer, starring 2010 Emmy® winner Kyra Sedgwick, and Rizzoli & Isles, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander; all-new episodes of the hit caper series Leverage, starring Timothy Hutton; and a new season of the critically acclaimed Southland.

TNT has also unveiled the slate for The TNT Mystery Movie Night, a new showcase of contemporary procedural dramas set to launch Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). The showcase will kick off with Scott Turow’s Innocent, starring Bill Pullman (Independence Day, Torchwood), Marcia Gay Harden (Pollack, Damages) and Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Law & Order: LA).

Meet the New Cast-aways of Survivor: South Pacific (UPDATED)

CBS today announced 16 of 18 castaways who will compete against each other on SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC, when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 23rd season with a special 90-minute edition, Wednesday, Sept. 14 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.   Two of the 18 castaways, to be revealed later this week, are former castaways who will return to seek redemption.

Following the excitement of a thrilling season three finale that brought back one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe, Cartoon Network today announced that Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premiere 22 all-new episodes for Season Four of the critically acclaimed CG-animated series from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. The special, one-hour Season Four premiere event of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs Friday, September 16, at 8 p.m. (et/pt).
