At the Dunphy Compound, everyone is gathered for brunch. The conversation steers towards past misdeeds – Claire left the convertible top down, Jay missed Claire’s skating competition because he was drunk, and Jay didn’t really get a hole-in-one since Mitchell kicked it in. Jay, nicknamed Ace at the golf club, is not amused.

After Mitchell ruined brunch with his golf revelation, Luke and Manny decide to take down the diabolical Lily – she’s too cute, gosh darn it! They set a trap that, instead, ensnared Cam. He ends up with a back injury and breaking Lily’s doll.

Cam’s hurt until everyone leaves the house – he miraculously heals and starts rummaging through the Dunphy home. He’s looking for Tupperware he lent Claire. She claims it was returned and he’s going to prove her wrong. By the way, he found it at the expense of a kitchen drawer.

Lily’s doll was “hurt” during Cam’s fall so Phil, Alex, Haley, and Lily go to the Doll Doctor. That’s right, you read it correctly – a Doll Doctor. In fact, the doll has insurance – the doll probably has better insurance than me! That doll has it good! I want to be Lily’s doll…wait, that sounds wrong…..I want to take it back…..

On the drive to the mall, Phil finds out Haley is no longer a virgin. As expected, this freaks out the self-professed “cool dad.” At the doll store, Phil awkwardly hints to Haley that he trusts her and is okay with everything. It was a touching father-daughter moment. Also, Alex found her inner girl – wanting a $200 doll. Phil is happy to oblige his little girl.

Other Modern Family happenings, Mitchell goes to the golf club to talk to Jay but ends up spilling the not-a-hole-in-one story to Jay’s buddies. Claire shares her de-stressing activity with Gloria – going to the shooting range. Manny and Luke take Cam’s car out for a stroll to impress a girl Manny likes. Unfortunately, going 5 mph isn’t cool. In fact, it might get you shot – that’s drive-by speed.

Favorite moments/Things to ponder:

1. How funny was the car scene with Manny and Luke?

2. I’m shocked Claire knew about Haley and Dylan before Phil. I wonder if she freaked out.

3. Family moment of the episode (two this week):
First – Phil’s acceptance of Haley and Haley saying her dad is cool. Second – Jay remembering Mitchell’s first beer.

4. Quote of the episode:
“There are blind models? That’s so sad; they cannot see how pretty they are.” ~ Gloria, it’s nice to see what goes on in that pretty head of hers.

Do you have past misdeeds you would like to share in the privacy of this website? Do you think there is a statute of limitations? Have your family ever have that conversation about past misdeeds? Where did Gloria learn to shoot?! Discuss away!

  1. I waited a good 15 years to tell my mother that a) nobody sideswiped my car in the college parking lot, b) I hit the snow-blower with my car (which is why it stopped working), and c) I was pretty hungover at the time.

There’s also the time I came clean with “yeah, that really wasn’t my friend Jim’s girlfriend, with the stomach flu, the neighbors saw pass out in the backyard.”… but that’s a looong story!

    • Wow, exciting adolescence!!

I still have not confessed much to my parents but my brother and I did come clean about breaking the tv. We silently blamed it my our sister who was unfortunate to turn it on after us. We laugh about it now but my sister’s still bitter she got the blame.
