Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead. Benjamin Franklin’s wise words take on a whole new meaning in this episode as Zoe finds herself forced to keep Lavon’s secret, and Wade convinces Lemon to partake in what is essentially a new favourite bromantic escapade.

Rock, meet hard place

DiDi’s discovery of Lemon’s picture led to Zoe discovering the truth about Lemon and Lavon’s affair. Actually I would call it a relationship since affair makes it sound sordid and dirty. I sympathized with Lavon when he was telling Zoe about his time with Lemon. While I’m not sure if Lemon ever truly loved Lavon, it was plain to see that Lavon loved Lemon deeply. It’s devastating him that he can’t be with the woman he loves, and DeeDee is his way of trying to move forward with his life. DiDi, in essence, is a way for him to mitigate the pain he feels whenever he sees or hears about how happy George and Lemon are together.

Zoe is, of course, torn between her desire to keep Lavon’s confidence and to reveal the truth to George. She attempts to avoid George but that plan gets sidetracked when he brings her a client who claims to have been abducted by aliens. It turns out the client simply got lead poisoning from a Mexican tattoo, but requests that Zoe tell his alien-obsessed wife that he suffered from an extraterrestrial lead implant. Yes, the case was ridiculous but it reminded us that Zoe is actually a doctor.

In the end she decides to keep Lavon’s secret, and I think she did the right thing personally. But I doubt this secret will stay contained for long.

Zade

There wasn’t much interaction between my favourite non-couple couple tonight. Zoe has rightfully been giving Wade the silent treatment since the last episode. Wade, on his part, seems to be trying to make amends but Zoe’s having none of it. Is it childish of her? Yes but her feelings got hurt. Wade niggled at those insecurities Zoe has about dating, and I’m guessing that having one of the few friends she’s made in Bluebell bet against her ability to have a healthy relationship doesn’t help Wade’s case at all. These two need to have a deep and meaningful conversation now that Wade is single again, or at least have Lavon Hayes intervene. Justin Hartley’s arrival (one word: ohmygee!) is imminent Wade Kinsella!

Lemon, Wade and that denim mini-skirt

Lemon doesn’t know what to do with herself when George declares unilaterally that she should take the day off. Though, like Wade, I’m not sure what exactly she’s taking a day off from. Does Lemon actually have a paying job? In any case Wade’s fling Joelle is attempting to hide from her ex, and Wade recruits Lemon to pose as Joelle to throw Ed off the scent. It was refreshing seeing drunk Lemon and also allowed for Wade and Lemon to switch roles. More importantly I like seeing the friendship between Wade and Lemon. They are such polar opposites, and coupled with Wade’s inability to stomach Lemon’s theatrics, I enjoy whenever these two get the chance to interact.

Plus Lemon’s words at the bar seemed to have got through to Wade. She told him that, despite the fact he thinks otherwise, she believes that he can do better than what he’s settled for. Joelle isn’t the woman for him, and Wade’s a good person who deserves better. It provided us an insight into how Lemon sees Wade, and also showed Wade that not everyone thinks he’s a screw up.

What did you think of this episode? Do you think Zoe should have told George? Do you think Lemon and George will actually elope? Why isn’t there more Zoe/Wade? Give me your TwoCents below or over on Twitter!

  1. another great recap! I completely agree with you – it wasn’t Zoe’s secret to tell. loved seeing lemon let her (fake) hair down and being buddies with Wade again. these two have some great chemistry. but not much Zade this episode, how disappointing.

is Justin Hartley really coming to the show? oh my :) do you have any additional info on his character?
