According to TV Squad, geek icon George Takei, better known as Star Trek’s Sulu, is making an appearance as himself on an episode of Big Bang Theory scheduled for Oct. 14.
Unfortunately for Sheldon and the rest of the guys, Takei will only be sharing the screen with Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), teaming up with Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff as the other part of his conscience. Sackhoff is making her second appearance on the comedy after guest starring in an episode last season.
In the episode, Wolowitz is trying to decide whether or not to get back together with his former girlfriend Bernadette, with Takei and Sackhoff representing opposing view points.
Other guest stars set for this season include computer guru Steve Wozniak, who will pop up on the second episode, and the possible return of Star Trek: TNG actor Wil Wheaton as Sheldon’s nemesis.
Despite all the guest stars coming up, the show’s executive producer Bill Prady assures fans that they aren’t going to start relying on stunt casting, instead only bringing on people from the sci-fi and tech world that mean something to the characters.
Big Bang Theory returns for its fourth season on a new night Thurs., Sept. 23.
My Two Cents: I’m a fan of George Takei from his Star Trek: TOS days, and he’s proven he can be funny on his more recent appearances in the media, so I’m sure the episode will be hilarious.
Excited about the new and returning guest stars? How do you feel about Big Bang Theory moving to Thurs.?
